Haven't you always wanted to know how to sign the lyrics to Miley Cyrus's "Party in the USA?" (Yes, you have. Shut up, you don't know what you want. )Well, good news, kids: If you wanted to learn to speak with the deaf AND a new dance to "Cry Me a River," congrats! You're multitasking. There's a whole world wide Web (GUFFAW!) of helpful ASL experts who have filmed themselves signing the lyrics to pop songs. They'll have you signing along your favorite tunes with those filthy ratpaws of yours. (This is especially good for us, since or previous knowledge of ASL was limited to an anti-semitic ditty from church camp and a couple of extra-filthy swears.) Start out with adorable little scamps and their ASL version of Weezer's "My Name Is Jonas." Enjoy! (Thanks, Urlesque!)

I am Deaf- but not much of "music" person- obviously. I've seen some hearing persons using ASL for music/songs more lately. Ofcourse, certified interpreters would sign much better and fluently in music than those "rookie" ASL users. Smile.

I've been taking ASL for the Last 5 years soon to be the start of 6. IT was my foreign language in HS and now college this is kind of neat I must admit. In school we put on plays all in sign language a story all in songs. IT was amazing I loved it so much ASL is such an amazing way to express yourself!!!! I love how you get to use your whole body when your talking.

I am deaf and not music person. That video seems not music to me...The men signed in words by words..... Not pictural video of music. Keep on going to be improved.

I don't know much more ASL than the guys in the video, but I wasn't impressed with their interpretation... and the song didn't carry any artistic grace that accompanies a beautiful language, for me.

Im Deaf, am into music world for a while now. For this video, they tried their best, but their ASL skills aren't not that impressive as yet as if they wanted to be in MTV. Increase the ASL skills, for example more fluently, and smooth animates/drama in signing and singing could be truly magical to be in music world. I so look forward to it. For this video, I'd give it a D (for an effort only.)

Check out CaptainL0ver on youtube (with a zero, not the letter o) for sign language music videos. He is INCREDIBLE (and handsome!) He's got several videos up and works a sign language interpreter, so he knows his stuff. :)

As a CODA (child of deaf adults. For the hearing world: I'm hearing but both my parents are deaf)- this is the first video I've seen of its kind but it is pretty poorly done. Its a good effort for people who obviously are very limited ASL users, though. I agree with some previous posters- it is very basic ASL usage grammatically speaking, and completely lacks the fluidity and beauty that would accompany a more fluent speaker. "E for effort." :)

Fluidity of movements during ASL in music can be a very beautiful thing!

As an ASL Teacher of 28 years, I would fail all three of them and retire in total disillusionment at trying to teach ASL to hearing people. I have many many students who can sign these boys under the table as the saying goes. I am going to show this to my students for a laugh. I cannot even imagine their response. OMG. They are going to fall over laughing. Next time people try to destroy Spanish or French and leave ASL alone.

I have watch the video.. I see their signs is very poor and not clearly. I mean it is not professional for being sign in music. I myself Deaf person knows what's the best for the musicial in ASL. that video shows no facial expression and those signs is not ASL.. very sloppy. three men.. study hard in our deaf community.

Kudos to these kids for what seems like a class project of some sorts, but could one of these stupid online articles PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE feature people who actually know sign language and can render an appropriate interpretation of the music? This kind of crap is hugely insulting to the effort I put into creating accurate interpretations when I do concerts and shows. The stuff you see here is virtually incomprehensible. The grammar is wrong, the syntax is terrible and half of what they're signing doesn't even make sense. Shame on you, reporter. Check your facts before you publish

what the hell?! this is not a deaf music! i am deaf and i know a lot about ASL.
THIS IS NOT A DEAF MUSIC. STUPID. and your signs were not like ASL!
ASL requires good expression, no using voice, sign big, and beautiful sign, not like yours!
i seriously didn't like this video. if you want to be skilled, then practice hard until your pretty good, stupid.
Don't look down on deaf people! Deaf people are very smart, i am telling you. Deaf people can do EVERYTHING. Watch, someday you will meet deaf doctor, deaf lawyer and more! TRUST ME.

OMG. The video had me ROTFL. I'm Deaf and a hardcore ASL user. I applaud them for their effort. But those three fellas are, indeed, rookies. They have LONG, LONG way to go before they become fluent in ASL.
Lemondrop editors, can you please do us a favor? Next time, before you post anything like this for the world to see; it would be best that you check with us who are within the Deaf community for an approval. The video in this article is an embarrassment towards the Deaf community.
