When thinking of prominent liberals you might think of movie or rock stars, or politicians like the Kennedys or Obamas. But the stereotypical conservative might make you conjure up a picture of some old, rich white guy a la Dick Cheney.

Meghan McCain gets a lot of attention for being the face of the new generation of Republicans, but most young conservatives are looking up to people who are, you know, actually conservative. Today's outspoken righties often use humor as their weapon of choice. They are fiercely independent, often criticizing their fellow elephants. Here, some of the most popular young pundits who are not your grandfather's (or even your father's) conservatives.

Girls Gone Right
Lori Ziganto tweets under the name "SnarkandBoobs." In her profile she says "Steyn, Breitbart and Sowell are my thinkies porn" and describes her politics as "conservative with libertarian tendencies, only not the crazy pants kind." She uses her blog to expose "asshattery in Washington, DC (and elsewhere if it makes me froth at the mouth), from a dame's point of view" and says she intends "to become a huge ass thorn in their sides... because I love this country and I'll be damned if I'll let people of their mindset destroy it."

Other young conservative chicas like Mary Katharine Ham, Sarah K. Fleming, Dr. Melissa Clouthier and Right Girl, can also be found on Twitter.

Funny Guys
Conservative blogger Jim Treacher (also on Twitter) recently had his "Top Ten Reasons to Accept that Job Offer from David Letterman" read on air and praised by Dennis Miller. Reason number one: "After the sex, he lets you keep the Palin wig." His blog features that list and other gems -- like the poem he penned for the "boob czar."

Edgy Frank J. Fleming shares his POV at IMAO (In My Arrogant Opinion) blog and Pajamas Media. He says politics is funny, then goes on to explain that if you don't think his blog is funny, there may be something wrong with you. ("You should have a doctor look at you to make sure it's not fatal.") Sample line -- his terrorist "fun facts" include: "The word 'martyr' is just a fancy name for 'crappy fighter'" and "They enjoy blowing themselves up, and we enjoy blowing them up. You'd think we would get along better." (Don't worry, he's got a site store so you can brandish those sentiments on your chest.)

TV Types

Brian Anderson wrote a few years ago about "South Park Conservatives," named after libertarians Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who poked fun at liberal sacred cows in their "South Park" series on Comedy Central.

A perfect example? Libertarian-leaning Greg Gutfeld is seeing some good numbers as host of the Fox News show "Red Eye" -- airing weekdays at 3 a.m. EST. Forget a politics background -- Gutfeld previously worked at dudely magazines including Men's Health, Stuff and Maxim UK. His sometimes dark and raunchy sense of humor has found a perfect stage on this part talk-show, part stand-up comedy routine, with a panel of guests from entertainment and every end of the political spectrum. Common themes include unicorns and gay sex. Get more of Gutfeld at the Daily Gut and of show regular Andy Levy on Twitter.
