Q: Is there anything cooler in the world than bats?

A: No.

But this video (and, OK, 750-pound sharks) comes close. It's an infrared recording of hundreds of thousands of bats leaving their cave to forage at night in Carlsbad Canyon. The geniuses at The Scientist have set the whole thing to Bach, giving it a neat, Transylvanian feel. The thermally mapped bats look kinda like sperm, but way less fun to have caught in your hair. Enjoy!
