So I might be a tad bit makeup obsessed (sue me), but makeup is the perfect pick-me-up: You can radically alter your look without spending a ton of money or having to deal with trying on new clothes (never fun). Make-up experts say that you should always accentuate either the lips or the eyes (never both!), and I love a dark, smoky eye. My shadow of choice? Laura Mercier's collection of lustrous shadow pots. Mercier's pigment-rich colors come in matte, luster and sateen finishes, and you can blend them together to create an ultra-smooth finish. I'm particularly fond of Sable and Kir Royale (pictured).
Blend them together with a soft, smudgy black or brown eyeliner and voila! You've got a dramatic look without the drama.
