Wanda Sykes wed her wife Alex in California a year ago, and the couple welcomed twins to the family in May. But last night the comedian and Lemondrop lady crush mentioned wife Alex on "The Jay Leno Show," which led to a rash of curious Googlers.According to Inside TV, all that's really known about Alex is that she and Wanda met in 2006 and were married on Oct. 25, 2008, in California. While Sykes was once reluctant to make public statements about her personal life, she became more vocal about gay rights after Proposition 8 passed and joined a rally in support of gay rights.
"Now, I gotta get in their face," she continued. "I'm proud to be a woman. I'm proud to be a black woman, and I'm proud to be gay," she told a crowd at the Las Vegas GLBT Community Center last year.
Here we thought our girl crush on Sykes topped out during her hilarious performance for the White House Correspondents dinner. But now we love her that much more. Sykes will discuss her marriage in her solo special on HBO, "I'MA BE ME", airing this Saturday. Click to watch her appearance on Leno.
