AskMen.com released their Most Influential Men of 2009 list. It includes many of the usual suspects like Jon Stewart, Quentin Tarantino, Mark Zuckerberg, George Clooney and Tiger Woods. But the number one spot in the reader-voted list was awarded to fictional character Don Draper. Barack Obama placed third. AskMen's editor says it's because "In a turbulent 2009, men are seeking the stability of tradition in the masculine qualities that they imagine their fathers and grandfathers to have had. The character of Don Draper brings all these traits together." Or maybe more guys wish they could spend their days drinking scotch, smoking in the office and having affairs with their secretaries before going home to January Jones.
Either way, we think it's bogus. As Julie says: "OK, sure, he's super-sexy and I totally want to do it with him, but the fact that our ideal masculinity is a fictionalized character is kind of sad. No, it's really sad. Also, he's a philandering creep."
Laura, on the other hand, was PSYCHED about the inclusion of Usain Bolt, whom she dressed up as last Halloween. "If he [Bolt] crosses over into Hollywood he will conquer the universe."
Check out the rest of the winners here and let us know what you think of this list. Let AskMen know, too, by using their ranking system on each winner's page.

Sometimes I forget how much I look like Usain Bolt until I see a picture of him and think it's me.

I do not think Obama or his wife should be selected in these catagories. He does not know how to dress and she is a disgrace to the White House...and someone suggested she was in the same class as Jackie. Who are we kididng here. Neither of those people even need to be in the running. The worst dressers ever...no style and NO taste.

Obama is one of the sharpest ,classiest dressers of all the males I see.
Michele is a classy, intelligent woman.

IT'S A SHAME THAT WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT A PERSON IF HE IS OF THE "CAUCASION PERSUASION", YOU ARE A PITIFUL LOT OF PEOPLE, YOU NEED A PLANET OF YOUR OWN....POISON IS YOUR ONLY VOICE!!!

Who the heck is Don Draper? Must be some TV character. Pretty pathetic to think that's who is "most influential." Whom is he influencing? A bunch of wannabes & losers. Fortunately, some of us find other ways of spending our time.

It's really sad when the most influential man is a TV show character, who does spend the day drinking, smoking, chasing women..pretty sad if that sounds like fathers and grandfathers, that's even sadder.

You've never heard of MAD MEN? Seriously, it's one of only two shows that I bother to watch on that wasteland of a box. Are you too busy watching The Real Housewives of the Bronx or CSI Bismark?

No, I never heard of Mad Men. Nor do I watch the trash you suggested.
I watch classic movies channel and other such channels when I have time to watch TV. I have so many other worhwhile things to do with my tine then watch trash on TV. Have you ever used your TV Trash time to visit a nursing home, mentor a child, volunteer for the Red Cross???

Jinks, how is Michelle a "disgrace" to the White House? No doubt she has been more influential in her short time in the spotlight than you've been in a lifetime. And Obama? He wears a nice, tailored suit everyday.

Who the hell is Tucker Max? And why is he famous?
All I got from this artlcle is that he thinks he is "some kind of special" and feels the need to exercise his trouser snake as often as possible. What I really don't understand is why any woman would WANT to have anything to do with this kind of asswipe.
Courtney, he describes you as "the cute one" and your competition that evening as "smokin' hot." Did you hope for an upgraded description if you went home with him? Other than the faked orgasm, what did you get out of this romp?
Why does everyone under 50 think it is okay, maybe even mandatory, to sleep around? Contrary to rumor, your parts don't shrivel and fall off if not used constantly. Just because you have the requisite parts and the hormonal urges, doesn't mean you should whip 'em out and share 'em at the drop of a hat.
Eventually, IF you are lucky, you will find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. By the time you do, there will be nothing new to learn and explore with this special person. It seems that this casual, obviously meaningless sex is being used instead of communication or committment. If you don't know the person, don't care about the person, don't WANT to know about the person, why the hell have sex with them??? How do you show someone you REALLY care about them - have sex with them twice as much as you would the asswipe you care nothing for???
No wonder there are so many depressed single people looking for something to make life worth living and thinking they will find it in yet another semi-anonymous sexcapade.

I cannot believe Don Draper from Mad Men television show is the number one pick for the "Most Influential Man of 2009" , an actor that chain smokes cigarette after cigarette, cheats on his wife, LOL! what is the world coming to? Yeah, he's cute and all but what has he done besides acting to be the most influential person of 2009.

Proving once again - that most men's lives are based on fantasy and not reality.

If by "real life" you mean substituting random, meaningless sex for any kind of real personal connection, I'll pass. And I have a life - a real life...I'm very happily married and have three children. I admit to kissing my fair share of FROGS in the search for my PRINCE, but I didn't sleep with them. It just didn't seem to be worth the effort to "fake" feelings that just weren't there. And I didn't have to worry about STDs and worry about where I left my undies. Thanks for the advice, but NO THANKS.
