Zapatero Daughters Bring Darkness to White House
How much do we love this amazing photo from the State Department's Flickr feed? It shows Barack and Michelle Obama with Spanish Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and his 13- and 16-year-old daughters, clearly enjoying a healthy goth phase. Laura, Alba, we feel your pain; being a teenager sucks.

In response to the comment by J Marie about Sarah Palin's children. She paraded her children around during her campaign, including her teen age daughter, who she knew was pregnant. I caring mother does not allow her child, who is in a difficult situation, to be put out there in the limelight. Sarah Palin should have declined to run for VP knowing that it would put her family in the spotlight. Oh, and by the way...I'm a Republican...and I think Sarah Palin is a disgrace to our party and to motherhood!

I LOVE IT! It shows that they are a REAL family like the rest of us. It shows that they are GREAT parents! How many of yall would want your children dressed like that (even though I find NOTHING wrong with it) when meeting the President of the US? I mean most kids are FORCED to wear crap that doesn't represent them, but this image their parents want to portray. I think its refreshing that a leader of another country would be so accepting as to allow his daughters to dress the way they want. GREAT!

I love how everyone is up in arms over this picture. Seriously, who cares? I'm sure whoever posted the pictures on Flickr had no idea it was going to turn into such a scandal. lmao

I don't see what the big deal is. There are tons of teens in our country that dress like that. Just because their the president's daughters it a big deal? I just want to point out that EVERYONE in that family is wearing all black with the exception of Zapatero's white shirt. Maybe that's just their style!

I'd hit it.
(before I catch flack...I'm young enough for it not to be gross/illegal)
To the people saying "they're not goth" or whatever, yea I though that at first, but check out the boots, the lace, and the cut of the dresses.
They may not be "goth" but they're dark for sure.

judging others is for losers... and for your info, black is slimming and easy to find shoes/purses, etc. to go with!

The girls look like they are comfortable at least. Mrs. Obama's dress looked like it was about to swallow her from the top! It really looked like it was uncomfortable and as if someone had taken a gold curtain and draped it about her shoulders and then wrapped it around her, cinched it in the front.
She looked happy, but...that dress is awful. I am no clothing designer, but I have seen her in better clothing. Maybe she needed a nice black dress to go with the others' clothing. Of course she is not one to conform. LOL.

I could be considered a goth... i have worn all black for years, dye my hair black and am into the whole vampire thing and have countless tattoos. I'm on the same page as lunadusk in that you have to be true to who you are. And no, i don't work fast food, retail, etc. I actually am a paralegal in a pretty prestigious small law firm. I am respected here for my brain and my abilities. They do not care how i dress or what tattoos I have because they know I have the intelligence to do my job.
Its not what you wear, what color your hair is, your skin, tattoos or no tattoos, it is truly what you do, how you act toward others that matters.

i think this is awesome. zapatero lets them just be kids instead of stuffing them into some mold they dont want. this is the new presidential way. having real, blood and flesh people in office, instead of made-up figurines.

"Those girls look a little on the unhealthy side. I'm sure their parents can afford to keep a gym membership and a nutritionist. What gives?"
Unhealthy? What microscope are you looking under Kiah? Just becaue those girls are not a size 2 does not make them unhealthy. Sure, they may have a few pounds extra on them, but you're judging them based on one picture, and they look like they are wearing layers. So go eat some kale or whatever it is that you healthy hipsters cream their panties over in the grocery store when it comes on sale and leave those girls alone.

What the fuhk is wrong with you people . I feel so disgusted that some of you guys would look down at others like this .
Everyone is born equal . Its not a shame that someone is different . Its not a crime to be gosh , emo , or whatever .
Its a choice of life , its what path they choose .
You haters a bowl of birdshiit .

but hey, they're not Goth, they are graduates! The picture was taken right after they threw their caps (with "Class de '09" on the tassle) off and into the air.
