OK, we've sat idly by while people pierced their infants' ears, painted tiny faces with makeup and lipstick, and took their small children along on Mommy and Me spa days. But we have to draw the line at tot-size high heels. No one should have to totter in uncomfortable footwear before their time. (Especially when your mom is taunting you with sensible flats!)
What do you think: Are Suri's high heels and fashion-plate look cute as a button, or freakin' weird?

While I completely agree that little girls should not be MADE to wear high heels, there is a time when you have to let your child decide what they wear ... and especially in tthe day of Disney Princesses... sometimes girls will choose to be girls and wear high heels ... you can buy them at almost any department store...

Olivia, although I agree with you that women (and girls) have a right to chose what they do with their bodies and their looks; the fact that high heeled shoes are made that small is reinforcing the idea that women (regardless of their age) must always be attractive. And is it really their choice? Or the influence of such things as beauty pageants and Disney Princesses?

Olivia, It is ridiculous statement to say that children should be allowed to make their own decisions. I think that Suri is 3 years old. First of all, no podiatrist would recommend that a child that young, whose bones and joints are still flexible and growing, wear that kind of shoe. Katie is setting Suri up for possible foot problems later on. Second, do you believe that children should be allowed to eat anything they want, when they want, sleep whenever they want, decide whether they want to go to school, or comply with their parents wishes? What happens when a child becomes a teenager? If you allow that in a child that young, there is no point in being a parent, except to provide the basics food and shelter. There are some decisions that the parents should and have to make.

Ok, question: Why is Katie wearing flats, and Suri wearing heels? Did they accidentally switch their shoes or something?

Little girls love to dress up and wear high heels and makeup and dresses. Its just part of being a girl. Suri probably just wanted to wear high heels like her mother, and Katie just humored her. I know that when i was a little girl that age, i had play high heels and i would walk around in them all day if i could. I think people are just over reacting to this

I agree, I think Suri probably wanted to dress up in heels. My nephews used to wear mine all the time. :) When you are a mom, you have to pick your battles. even celebrity moms.

They make heels for girls for playing dress up along with jewels, tiaras, etc. Only this time, a girl is wearing the heels out in public. It's neither here nor there. She's a little girl wearing heels.

I remember when I bought my first pair of high heels, it was a silver pair and I was about 14, my mother allowed me to wear them for my school picture. I felt so special that day. Now to let a BABY wear high heels takes away that rite of passage and it looks SO dumb! Some mothers nowadays are so damn dumb. One time my mother commented loudly (hey we're loud) How on earth can a little kid wear heels? And apparently the mother of that kid heard and said "She likes them and wanted to wear them." So who's the parent????

It's okay to wear heels once in a while. I doubt Suri is going to get a foot problem from wearing heels for one day. Don't make such a big deal over this; just because Suri is wearing high heels in one picture out of all the picture of her, that doesn't make Kate a bad parent. Don't be so quick to judge, when your own parenting is less than perfect. It's just high heels...

I think it is adorable. I would never force my daughter to wear them, but I would have loved them as a child. Call me a terrible human being.

I have two views. When my 29 yr old daughter requested heels it was a flat out NO, but the times have infact changed, my 13 yr old has proven to me this fact every day as she dyded her blond hair black and guess what about 56% of her friends did it in 6th gr shes in 8th. Little girls are growing up too quick, it flys by already why rush it , what will she wear when shes 18, they always want to top something in the past. Katy your young ,keep her young too,, heels for play outside althought its adorable she needs better shoes so her feet develope properly .. hope this helps. feet are REALLY Imp.! my best to your family be Blessed. Tots & Heels" no Suri should not be wearing heels in public, remember JonBenet (Colorado) she was wearing make up & big girl clothes supposedly in an innocent way, but horrible adults were screwing her in the butt. Lets protect and preserve our children, they grow up fast, help children be children, parents really be parents. Whos in charge here?

Are y'all blind?! Katie probably allowed Suri to wear those shoes because it makes it easier for her to hold Suri's hand when they are walking/standing.
It's OBVIOUS that Katie is a tall lady, even in her flat-soled shoes.
(And, I said 'allowed' because I know how demanding a kid can be when they want something...and I would bet B-I-G money that Suri begged her mommy to let her wear those shoes, even though they were PROBABLY bought only for fancier outings/occasions.)
And, I know for a fact that little girls often like to wear "high heels"...plus, for all we know, she probably wasn't going to be walking around in them for very long, anyway.

All little girs at that age want to dress like their moms. Look at the skirt and the rest of the clothing. It looks like she's just 'pretending'. Big deal!

Please people, come on now. My little girl is 3. She is a true girly girl. she loves her shoes and pretty dresses. She walks up to her daddy and asks if she looks pretty. There is nothing wrong with a little girl wearing heels as long as she she does not stumble in them. They sale the dress up ones?! Most people buy dress up clothes. Maybe this is whats wrong with our children! Little girls need to be allowed to be little girls!!! Our children needs to learn @ a young age to care about their appearance.

I actually bought my 5 year old a pair of heals (they were about 1/2" to 1" high. I thought they were so cute! When I took them out to show my husband (who has been a private trainer for 17 years and has a B.S. in Kinesiology) He said "sorry, you need to take them back, you can cause serious knee damage to children under the age of 12, even a slight heal puts to much pressure on the knee" :( So as cute as they are people, please for the future sake of your child's knees, stay with the flats!!!!!
