When we asked you what you wanted to read about during Cheap Week, reader Luann came up with some great tips for saving at the grocery store:"Shop only around the outside aisles, ie. produce aisle, dairy aisle, bread aisle, and meat aisle...Think of the five food groups when food shopping."Luann is a former salon owner/hairstylist who lives in Las Vegas with her husband and two children. She is an online entrepreneur extraordinaire--she works as an affiliate marketer, runs an online business blog and manages two shopping websites, Three Six Five and Gift Finder eBook.
Luann has some more suggestions for saving at the supermarket (and we're sure she won't mind if you ask her for more tips via Twitter):
-- See if your store has a promotion to receive some sort of reward (like $25 in free groceries) if you sign up for their credit/rewards card.
-- If your grocery store has a bank, looking into whether it offers shopping incentives for banking there.
-- Take advantage of manufacturer coupons, both from the newspaper circulars and the ones that print at the cash register when you do your shopping. "By October, I'll have gotten close to $20 in free groceries."
-- Trade coupons with friends. "I saved my friend $5 on diapers. She returned with coupons for Lunchables."
