Emily Ryan has lived in NYC for two years, but she has more humble roots in Texas. She's taken some of her simpler ways to the Big Apple by sharing useful information and tips on how to have fun in the city without tons of cash on her blog notrustfundnyc.com.

"I started out working as a personal assistant and made next to nothing so I was forced to get creative on how to get the most of out of this city on very little," she said.

Emily, who now works full time in graphic design and marketing for NYU Medical Center, is currently working towards a master's degree in interactive telecommunications from NYU. She likes riding her bike along the water, finding free late-night comedy shows and taking advantage of pay-what-you-wish times at museums.

One of her other favorite free things to do is read Lemondrop for "the dish on guys, hilarious Web finds, and beauty and fashion tips."
