Sure, some of us may think of sex as a religious experience -- especially during a particularly steamy session filled with screams of "Oh, God!" But now comes a new book called "Prayer Book for Spouses," aimed at Roman Catholic couples and encouraging them to recite the "Prayer Before Making Love" before doing the deed.Why? So their intentions are purified and sex isn't about selfishness or hedonism. Maybe we're going straight to hell but we thought those WERE the reasons to make love?
Here's a taste of the prayer (in case you want to give it a whirl). It asks God "to place within us love that truly gives, tenderness that truly unites, self-offering that tells the truth and does not deceive, forgiveness that truly receives, loving physical union that welcomes."
If you have the self-control to pray before ripping off your significant other's clothes, then more power to you. But that begs the question -- if you don't pray, do you have any other pre-sex rituals you'd like to share?

Jesus told us not to live in sin but be married. He also taught that divorce is not true and if you divorce and marry someone else you commit adultery (cheating on your spouse). It is not the Churches teaching, it is Jesus teaching. The Catholic Churchs teachings are biblical.

As a life long Catholic my relationship with God hasn't faltered but my relation ship with the clergy slowly disintegrates. Passion is passion and you can label it what you want but it is the remaining animal urge in us that won't change. If you love you partner all the better but it is what it is. The effort to smooth over passion is the same icing the church puts on celibacy and the cruel impact it has had on the young men who go to the seminary to serve God. This is the seed of the child molestations we know so well but the church does little to improve the situation. If you don't believe me just follow the actions of cardinal Mahoney in Los Angeles. Let us pray.

You are right! Humor is a good thing and it has a place in religion depending on the parish you are in. Jesus was a Jew and if you ever go to a Jewish wedding etc. there is laughter, dancing, drinking light hearts. I don't believe Jesus was the dour judge many wnat us to believe. To ALL you bonafide idiots on here making your remarks about priest being pedophiles, get a brain. The generalizing is old already!! I have been a "practicing catholic" all my life and have come in contact with many priest who are Holy Men and would never do such a thing and are extremely embarrassed by the acts of a few...Having said that, do you also say that all teachers are pedophiles too? With your small brains, your idiotic ways, your lack of faith, I wouldn't doubt it. If you are not a registered parishioner in your local church, if you have no faith at all, how on God's green earth can you judge anyone or anything that you know nothing about??? Sharron, i'm not bashing your religion,most of my family is catholic but i was always the one who danced to the beat of a different drum and my catholic family accepted it as long as i had faith in something but what i have noticed is that a lot of catholics are not so accepting of a member of their own family having a different belief system from them .i just happen to believe that marriage is too comercialized now days and that you don't have to be married to have a real loving, pure,and spiritual relationship with the opposite sex as long as it is monogamous

what your family does not tell you (which you need to be told) is that you are a spiritual WEAKLING. I tell you this with all the love from the bottom of my heart. You know very little about being Catholic. Truly Catholic. To study the Catholic Faith is to become Catholic. THERE IS NOTHING ELSE ONCE YOU FIGURE IT OUT. You may drum to that dance of your own beat and all but you will still be a spiritual weakling. I suggest the Catholic Encyclopedia by Catholic Answers. To be spiritually strong you have to work at it.
