Thank you, Merriam-Webster, for finally acknowledging frenemy as a real word. Now, if only you could relay that message to spellcheck. This summer, nearly 100 words were added to the dictionary, and there are nearly 100 words added to the listthat we can now say without feeling like a trendy a-hole. Words like acai, earmark, and vlog. Staycation is also new to the dictionary, which is nice, since it's something we'll probably all be taking this year thanks to the economy, despite what happened in Beetlejuice. Oh! Plus shawarma! Delicious, moutherwatering shawarma will now be found in the pages of Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary , so you can look between shaving and shawl if you're really hungry and on a diet.
Of course, with the good come the bad, like Reggaeton, which should really just go away forever in all forms, and locavore, which, real word or not, will always make you sound like a trendy a-hole.
Tell us -- what word do you want added to the dictionary... or wiped off the face of the earth?
