We thought the debate over whether or not women are funny was totally over -- after all aren't shows like "30 Rock" and "Parks and Recreation" proof that women are hilarious? Then we saw an ad for the upcoming New York Comedy Festival and noticed that it was ridiculously penis-centric. So penis-centric, in fact, that there was not ONE woman on the bill.
Seriously? This is ludicrous, we thought. And quickly rattled off about 20 female comics who are light years funnier than Dane Cook. (Our desks are funnier than Dane Cook.)
Below, take a look at who we'd love to have at our fantasy Lemondrop comedy fest. Who are we missing? Who would you include in your dream funny-lady roster? Tell us in the comments.

From top: Kristen Schaal, Wanda Sykes, Kathy Griffin, Amy Poehler, Sarah Silverman, Amy Sedaris, Mo'Nique, Kristen Wiig and Margaret Cho.

I love all your picks and I agree. But what about Chelsea Handler?? I have never seen her stand up but I love her show and her books are absolutely hilarious.

DEBI GUTIERREZ! Why doesn't this Women have a TV Show yet? Or at least a cast her for a good movie!

Tina Fey is not a standup comedian which is what this group of men seems to be. But she is a very funny talented writer/comic actress.

All the women mentioned below are great. It is a shame that the comedy world is still one big boys club. I love to go comedy clubs, however, there is at most one woman out of eight comedians. I have seen Jodie Wasserman and she is awesome. She is a comedian who will eventually be famous.

What a great idea for a comedy festival!!! Make it a reality!
Morgan Murphy is great.
Jodie Wasserman is great. I saw her on Comedy Central and thought she was hilarious.
I know a lot of people think Jessica Kirson is funny but I don't get it.

Here's a really lovely clip of Caroline Hirsch, owner of Caroline's comedy club (who is sponsoring the festival) talking about why women aren't as funny as men, and dropping names of female comics that are straight out of the 80s.

Maria Bamford would be a great selection.
Jodie Wasserman is incredible.
If this is the female version of the male-dominated NYCF,
you should focus on local New York City Standup women.
Jessimae is one of the best comics I've ever seen.
... and Nicole Korkolis brings the house down every time.
(see them both at the Power Hour at EastVille)

Glad you noticed. I have NY to be very un-funny about female comics. I am a comic and I have it even tougher - I am older. So, there is a double whammy against me.
