A Brazilian politician who also hosts a true-crime show has been accused of commissioning murders to boost his ratings.

Police became suspicious after state legislator Wallace Souza (at left), host of the crime show "Canal Livre," seemed always to be first on the scene to "cover" a murder. His reports also tended to contain more information than other media outlets had.

With each additional killing in Manaus, Brazil, Souza's "exclusive footage" of the crimes led to a dramatic increase in his ratings. Souza and his son deny the charges, but things aren't looking good for them on the evidence front.

Presently several charges are being filed against both the legislator and his son, among them drug trafficking, weapons possession, gang formation and homicide. As a legislator, Souza had railed against the skyrocketing crime rates.

You know one way to cut back on crime? Stop paying people to kill other people!
