Got a spinal injury? You may have tried physical therapy and prescription drugs. But what you really might need could be something that melts in your mouth and not in your hand. New research has shown that the dye in blue M&Ms is freakishly good at mending spinal injuries. The compound "Brilliant Blue G" blocks a chemical that destroys healthy spinal cord tissue around an injury and can cause even more damage than the initial injury. It's effective enough that the rats it was tested on managed to regain the ability to walk, unlike those that weren't given BBG.
There are only two problems with the treatment: t temporarily turns skin blue (which is actually kind of awesome), and it has to be administered within 15 minutes of the injury. So until science remedies that last part, we can justify those 3 lb. bags of M&Ms we've been toting around, right?
