Where would we be without lawyers? Stupid jokes aside, they keep us safe from Vioxx, libel and legislators who want to get their grubby mitts on our lady parts. Here are some female "blawgers" who would eat Ally McBeal for breakfast. We love them almost as much as we love saying habeas corpus.

Power of Attorney -- Attorney Dee's blog aims to be a space for legal eagles to vent, but also for "law students who want to be like Mike," ex-lawyers, retired lawyers and "any other person who wants to make a contribution." She covers newsy items and issues impacting the legal community, but also hits the lighter side of lawyering with posts like "The Day I Wore Shorts to the Office." Bonus: She helpfully explains any "esoteric legal phrases" with bullet points at the bottom.

The Dark Goddess of Replevin Speaks -- This anonymous Seattle attorney is just as comfortable writing a brief as she is doling out the occasional "WTF." We love her "frivolous lawsuit" posts, as well as her recurring "how not to be a lawyer" feature. (Tip: Don't write snotty letters, as they will probably end up on the Internet.) She makes upholding the law look almost as fun as breaking it.

Tax Girl -- Blogger and attorney Kelly Phillips Erb amazes us because she manages to make tax law funny. (And helpful! We wish we'd known about her back in April.) Her area of expertise are all things taxation (including insider knowledge of the IRS, where she once interned), but she discusses everything from Sotomayor's confirmation hearings to Michael Jackson's funeral. Plus, she takes questions! Feel free to hit her up the next time you get audited.
