This week, we chatted with Michele Obi, editorial director of myfashionlife, a super-cool Brit-based fashion blog. Michele gave us her top picks for summer style, including this nautical-inspired tank dress by Dolce & Gabbana. But what do you wear with such a piece? It's our resident fashion expert Brian to the rescue!
Brian says: "This is a party dress that doesn't take itself too seriously - we love the oversize silk chiffon bow and anchor detail. You'll want to make a dress like this the focal point of your look.
"When accessorizing, go for extras that will enhance its fun, flirty vibe without taking away too much attention. Think strappy sandals, a shimmery clutch and silver jewelry."
Check out Brian's style picks after the jump.

A bag that screams "evening" wouldn't make sense with a dress as offbeat as this. Instead, echo its carefree vibe with something that's slick, chic and not too dressy, like this silver envelope clutch by Cecelia.
Since this dress is on the short side, go for a flat sandal to downplay any unpleasant associations it could have with Julia Roberts' wardrobe in the first half of "Pretty Woman." This metallic pair by Nine West has just enough bling to keep the look party-ready.
Silver jewelry will compliment the cool navy tones of the dress. Again, avoid pieces that are too classic-looking and choose ones with alluring, but subtle, detailing like this braided chain bracelet by Charlotte Russe.
A pair of simple, textured hoop earrings like these by Charles Garnier are the perfect finishing touch.

Hi Brian,
I'm in a fashion emergency situation. Just found a dress that I thought would be appropriate enough for the insanity I am about to experience on New Years. My husband and I are going to Lady Gaga in Miami:). The pressure for a great fashion statement seems pretty serious! I bought LaRoc sequin shimmy dress in black/gold/silver rectangular sequins. It is beautiful, but I need to make it more vogue. Fingerless gloves, lightening bolt earrings normally is not recommened with an already statement type dress , but its gaga! Any recommendations?

Hey Anne,
I say: Go all out! You're absolutely right! It IS Gaga after all. Love the earrings and glove idea. Maybe you could even layer a fitted leather motorcycle jacket over your dress or throw on a pair of booties with a pair of thick ribbed knee socks. Hope this helps - have a great New Year's Eve!
