Everybody loves a bargain, but we firmly believe that there are some things you shouldn't skimp on: shoes, tattoos and definitely plastic surgery. An East Bay, Calif., woman reportedly suffered complications after performing the latter on herself. The 54-year-old woman declined to give her name, but told reporters that she ordered a $10 vial of liquid silicone online and injected it into her lips and cheeks a month ago after a visit to a plastic surgeon.
She underwent corrective surgery to undo the red, inflamed results of her DIY project. But since doctors aren't totally sure what she injected, they said it could take multiple procedures to fix.
Unfortunately, plastic surgeon Steven Williams says she's not the only person to attempt cosmetic procedures on themselves.
Williams' office has seen an increase in people with botched DIY surgeries, and he suggests this might be because of the economy and the misguided idea that plastic surgery is somehow foolproof.
Our (totally unscientific) conclusion? Don't try this at home.
Now really, if you're hurting that bad to perk up your life, take a tip from one of the articles in our series "Break out of the Blah." None of them will hurt as bad as DIY plastic surgery.

What is the world coming to if you can do your own plastic surgeries?
Honestly... 2012 seemed rediculous but this tops it all off..

This would should have let a professional do this,,,that being said,,the reason I think she, or any other woman might want this done, or any other kind of procedure to enhance their looks, lose weight, etc...is because pretty people get the jobs AND men. Your man will look away from YOU to look at another woman he thinks looks better. Don't let him lie to you. He will laugh and flirt and act like a totally different man when he's around an attractive woman,,even right in front of you. We (women) have been shown over and over and over and over what gets the attention. I blame that for people resorting to this kind of "obvious mistake,,,damn" Anywho.....that's my story and i"m stickin to it,,,lol

Well look at the good side....now it is considered a medical condition that threatens her life so I think insurance will pay for further cosmetic surgery. I sure would not inject silicone in anything on any part of my body though. A good surgeon can take care of that without so many repeat surguries.

The surgeon (Steven Williams) who corrected this lady's problem looks like J-Z's long lost twin brother.

BRA Customers come into my store daily and they want breast surgery done. I always say la' natural is the best. There are many reasons to just leave things alone. Once it goes bad - there is no turning back. A Customer last week came back to me and told me - she should of listened to my advice. Complications with her surgery.....

Confidence is sooooooo attractive and sexy. If a person were to spend thousands of dollars on reconstuctive surgeries but still had self esteem issues, they would still be unattractive because what ATTRACTS people to you is how confidant you are with yourself. I think I look just as good as Beyonce. Therefore I am.

Wow! Why would you be so unhappy with your appearance that you would atempt such a thing. If it sounds to good to be true ... you know the old saying. I am sorry for her but gosh, I don't think anyone with any level of "common sense" would atempt such a thing. I am sure it cost more to fix her than the procedure would have been in the first place. What does she look now?

I know I shouldn't be laughing but MW's comment made me laugh. It does look kind of sad that this woman who doesn't look that naive would pay 10 bucks to fatten her lips. All she had to do was punch her lips a few times to puff them out. I just don't understand why women want big lips. My ex had big lips and I use to call him Jagger lips. Who wants Jagger lips? I think women better smarten up and worry less about their appearance and less about what men are going to think about them.

Of course, in insulting her intelligence, you misspelled "blonde," capitalized it for no reason and errantly split stereotype into two words. Oh, irony...
