Lemondrop Tests: Does the PedEgg keep your feet smooth?Despite its "As Seen on TV" billing, the PedEgg can be picked up everywhere. The premise: 100-plus micro-files scrape down everything you hate about your feet (dead skin, calluses), revealing smooth, baby-soft tootsies. Bonus: There isn't even any mess -- the PedEgg automatically collects your freshly shaved flesh in a tidy, no-spill container.
It seemed too easy. As a girl bent on finding all of life's shortcuts, I picked one up and went to town on the barnacles clinging to my toes and heels.
I learned the hard way (hard, as in Band-Aid-requiring) that the PedEgg's claim to "gently file off" is really a violent euphemism for "literally slice calluses off like bacon from your little piggies." A prison-grade shiv would offer less blunt-force trauma than this.
Under two hours after use, I had indeed removed all traces of dead skin, but could also barely walk. Trying to smoosh my sore, swollen, bleeding and sensitive toes into shoes would have been as successful as getting myself to the moon. It only took one use for me to decide that maybe calluses aren't so bad after all. No, they don't look cute with sandals ... but then, neither do open wounds.

What Your Walk Reveals
Ever wonder what people think when they see you walking down the street? The answer may be more revealing than you'd expect. Body language expert Kevin Hogan, Pys.D., and author of Irresistible Attraction: Secrets of Personal Magnetism, (KevinHogan.com) fills us in.

You're Innocent (Ha!)
When you hold your hands together in front of you, creating a V-shape, you come across as open and slightly innocent. You'll draw people to you with this inviting stance and some may even feel protective of you.

You're in Charge
Got a long stride and eyes that stay focused on your destination? No one will mistake you as a wallflower with this walk. Here, you are broadcasting that you know where you're going, like things your way, and have confidence to spare.

You're Nervous
Tucking your hair behind your ears, scratching your nose, or rubbing your arms makes you look anxious. Fiddling may just be an old habit to you, but those watching you will think you're nervous and maybe even dishonest.

You're on the Warpath
You may be trying to do a sexy, runway walk, but keeping your hands on your hips achieves exactly the opposite. Others will perceive you as hostile and super aggressive. You'll come across much hotter if you keep your shoulders back and arms at your side.

You're Blazing-Hot in Bed
A recent study found that you (er, scientists at least) can infer a woman's potential for vaginal orgasms by the way she walks. It sounds crazy, but according to the research-published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine- a woman with an energetic, fluid stride climaxes more often than someone with a shorter stride. (This gives new meaning to the phrase "pep in your step"!)

You're a Multi-Tasker
A fast walker who's on her phone or searching through her bag has a "back-off" vibe. You're probably just trying to make the most of your time, but you're sending a serious unapproachable signal. Lose the speediness and continue to use your phone or look through your purse and you'll be seen as much more welcoming.

You're Knock-Upabble
According to a study published in the Archives of Sexual Medicine that used motion-capture technology, women walk slightly differently when they're ovulating. Researchers then showed men clips of women walking and had them rate their attractiveness, and found that men were actually more attracted to the women who weren't in their fertile phase.

You're Gritting Your Teeth
A stiff upper body and arms that don't move broadcast that you're feeling tense. You may just have something on your mind, but those around you will perceive you as being pissed or uncomfortable. For a more natural look, lower your shoulders and gently swing your arms as you stride.

You're a Free Spirit
Being a slowpoke shows that you live in a world of your own. You're not concerned with keeping up with those around you and take your time to do things exactly how you want – relaxed and unhurried. Those with short, leisurely strides fall into the same category.

I have one and I really like it! I have never experienced any of the cutting or bleeding, but why would you use it for 2 hours? especially if it was hurting you?

Use some common sense! Good grief! Who would be so dumb as to exfoliate for two hours and remove the entire epidermis layer? It's only 1.5 mm thick! Exfoliate the dry flakey skin, bath your feet and apply a good moisturizer. Put on a pair of cotton socks and go to bed. Wait a day or two and repeat. I've used the PedEgg for months and it works just fine--much tidier than other callus removers. (Don't ever let this person test a "callousity" plane or they need to call 911!)

Well, all I can say is - SHE USED IT WRONG! I've been running around barefooted for most of my 53 years and my feet were horrible!!! HORRIBLE! I bought this, used in once, along with the smoothing thingie on the underside (think soft emery board), stuck some lotion on my feet and went to bed. I woke up with feet that looked and felt like a baby's ass! It was fabulous! I'm not embarrassed in sandals anymore. If you get one - read the damn instructions (hear me Jenny?!?!) and you'll wish they had invented it a long time ago.

I love mine. I use it after getting out of the shower, but only because I don't like touching my rough feet! YUCK!

I LOVE my ped egg.... just follow the directions. I'm not sure who would work two hours, you must have had barnacles! I don't press hard and use back and forth motion. If you go in circles it will cut you, but that's all in the directions. I also have never tried it on wet feet and I'll take the word that it works, but again, it says not to. I have great success with it!! If you are going to review something, follow the directions, please.

same as almost e1 else. I have one, read directions, used it without problems. I can't even imagine the force you used to make yourself bleed. It's fine, though I'd buy it at the store and save the postage.

I love my ped egg, I have 2 of them. Word of advice, do not get the one with the handle. The blade does pop off. But if you don't love the ped egg, you didnt need it to begin with. It works wonders on the people who need it. Also use foot lotion or cream after using it. Your feet will feel great.

Whoa, whoa, whoa...I'm a guy, a straight guy, and non-metrosexual...and I have one. I have a pink, Breast Cancer Awareness one...and I love it. The way you use it? First off, only use it for ten to fifteen minutes. Slather your feet up in lotion, then use it. Like anything new, start slow, and don't use it for long periods of time. You can build yourself up to using it more roughly and for longer periods of time, but by then, you won't need it. This isn't a one-time miracle tool. Use it each day for a few weeks (not too long during this period), then use it once every few days after and your feet will thank you for the rest of eternity!

Very witty write up. Honeslty, I've never understood why these sell. Files that do the same exact thing have been on the market for decades and they only cost around $4.

I agree with the majority of comments on this site - the reviewer used it WRONG. I have had mine for over a year and think it's fantastic - plus it saves me $$$ from going to get a pedicure which I don't think they really do that great of a job anyway. The first time I used it - I kept filing and filing and soon realized that I was sore because I over-did it. The next time I learned from the mistake - MY MISTAKE and STUPIDITY and paid close attention to what I was doing and made sure I did not over-do it again. The definite key is to start in short amounts initially then do routine "maintenance" to stay smooth. I had been using a foot file before the PedEgg and never seemed to get smooth feet so for $10 you get multiple uses out of it. You can use a file afterward or in between. My only complaint is that the "shavings" don't stay in the holder if you have the blade-part down. My solution, keep the blade up! :-)

I don't use of these - don't have any trouble with my feet - one lucky thing! Anyhow I thought your article was funny - I'm sure you didn't really use it as you described - who would? You are very amusing!

I have to agree with author. I bought one because a friend bought one and she uses hers all the time. I try using it for half an hour and I can't get any skin to come off. So I've been tempted to press really hard but don't want to hurt myself. Over all I'm disappointed in this product.

I love my ped-egg! Sorry for your pain, but go easier next time, it really works! One more tip...even though you use the ped-egg do you ever get those big cracks in your heels? Someone turned me onto using super glue, yes, you read that right, super glue in the cracks, let it dry and no more pain! Yippeeee!

I also have a PedEgg and use it after every shower. I have never cut or irritated my skin. On the contrary, I am VERY pleased with the results. I do find it necessary to follow with a "finer grain" pumice stone or foot file and a thick cream. Works like a charm.

I have one, too, and I also love it. Don't be a moron and attack your feet like you're peeling potatoes, for goodness sakes. Two hours of use?? I have TERRIBLE callused feet, that would crack and bleed and peel, and were painful to walk on, and had tried EVERY product on the market until I finally got around to using the pedegg. My feet have been wonderful ever since. Maybe it's better for people who NEED a "prison-grade shiv, and not someone who just has a few slightly dry patches which would respond just as well to a urea lotion. And, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the instructions said NOT to use it on toes.
