The next time you steal a 7-foot snake, you should probably make sure it hasn't eaten any endangered species first.

After a carpet python swallowed a small endangered marsupial that was being tracked by scientists, it was taken to a medical clinic for treatment. Thieves then broke in to the clinic and stole the snake. But the contents of its stomach literally led authorities right to their house.

You see, the snake had eaten an endangered woylie, which was wearing a tracking device. After that it was merely a matter of tracing the signal. The snake was rescued and taken back to the center, where he survived. The woylie, alas, didn't fare so well. But at least he had a posthumous hand in doling out some justice.
