Oh hey, did you hear, Michael Jackson died?! We visited Today's Front Pages at the Newseum to see how the story played out. Worst cover line? The Boston Herald, at left (even the New York Post resisted punning).
But in some markets, the obit didn't even make the front page. Today's top features instead? "Rehab no excuse for missing court" and "Cage fighting to return downtown during Bike Time Festival."
Some papers went to press after the Farrah news came out but before the Jacko story (and the Internet) broke, while others are local-only.
Still, we rounded up the stragglers so you know where to go when you get burned out on nonstop coverage. (Best when viewed while listening to AOL Radio's all-MJ channel.)

You forgot to mention that http://www.littlepeachinthebigapple.blogspot.com decided not to cover it as well. While not a newspaper, it is still a valid and trustworthy source.

I will make sure I don't read any of the 32 papers that didn't carry the story of MJ.

Presstimes: midnight for a.m papers; noon for p.m. papers.
So not having it on front was newsroom decision - and the right one. This was covered to death by TV and web before print could hit the street.
Attn: PR people: if you want client's obit to hit front pages, have your client die about 8 p.m. or 8 a.m.

Why not cover Michael Jackson? I think it's very appropriate considering his impact on the world. There are some who remember and appreciate the contributions he made to the world, through and by his music. Depending on the demographic area, some newspapers need not put him on the front page, but for those of us who live in places where they play "FM" radio stations, the coverage was warranted. Michael Jackson had a 45 year-old music career, he is deserving of the front page of national papers, as well as granted enough respect in death to be called by his name, not "Jacko".

The Daily Courier is a local paper and its purpose and obligation is to cover local news. If Michael Jackson's death had been on the front page most of the readers, myself included, would have been calling, emailing and writing wanting to know what the heck was going on.
You can get all the Michael Jackson coverage you can stand from television and the internet..
Bravo Courier!

Michael Jackson's death was a shock but to have him published in just about every paper's front page is a shame. He was not the only death that day. I mean Farrah died and she suffered for years with cancer. We have men and women over seas that have been giving their lives up to keep our country safe. thank you for letting me voice my opinion on this situation.
thank you,
Debbie

I was much more effected by Farrah Fawcett's death than Michael Jackson's. She was a huge pop icon herself who was a talented and beautiful actress who was the Marilyn Monroe of the Baby Boommer generation.
Michael was a talented man and I have his music which I enjoy. But I believe he was a narcissistic self-absorbed spoiled wierd person and his personality turned me off, as it did many others.
I'm appalled that Farrah Fawcett's death has not been covered because of Jackson's. The only reason he might be more famous with the younger generation than Farrah is because of his scandalous child molestation trials and his payiing off a family 20 million dollars.
I'm glad that some of the media has shown a sense of decorum and was pleased to hear that Thursday's special about Farrah drew in more viewers than those specials about Michael Jackson. Not everyone thought he was a good person. Most people loved Farrah because she was a good person.

This is the best comment on the wholly exhausted subject of Jacko's death.
Farrah was an icon, too -- and a much more wholesome one!
Both Jacko and Farrah deserve our prayers. Only God can judge them; but I would rather be in Farrah's shoes than those of little Jackie boy!
Thanks for expressing it so well!

Slow down people..these are TWO human beings that have lost there lifes! Its not a "contest" to see who gets the most publicity or front-page coverage. I know in Hollyweird thats a major concern but not in the real world. Both Farrah and Jackson didnt NEED anymore publicity, they where unfortunate "magnets" too press ( Jackson enjoying it MUCH more than Farrah..). I do agree thou that Farrah deserves all the tributes she gets, probably one of thee most beautiful and charismatic stars in recent history. I will miss her angelic face and smile.

You are all just a bunch of negative, disrespectful MEDIA SLAVES!!! How dare you compare one celebrity (in death) to another! They both were icons, yes but while Farrah lost a battle to cancer, Michael has been battling the free media and their manufactured allegations, greedy vampires and childhood demons his entire life. Despite all of this, he's life's work was much more than entertaining but also giving to the needy around the world, even during financial hardships. Websites like this and people like you contribute to the poison in this world!!!
