I had to read this story in 6th grade! and i had to read Old Yeller in 5th! these are so called "neutral stories" that appeal to both girls and boys. how do animal deaths appeal to 5th and 6th graders??? i never had to watch where the red fern grows but i did have to watch old yeller. what sick twisted person wrote these?

I read this book as a child. I absolutely loved it. I have read that book to my children, who also loved it.
