Last week's story listing the 11 Saddest Animal Movie Deaths pulled all our heartstrings, reminding us of a more simple time when cartoons were hand-drawn and kids could handle an effing dose of reality. The story also got a lot of people talking about what movies made them cry as kids -- more than 1,000 people commented and the most discussed topic turned out to be our omission of "Where the Red Fern Grows."

InvaderZimFan says: "Actually, Where The Red Fern Grows should be #1 or #2 on this list. When Ruben trips and dies... and when Old Dan dies, and the Little Ann dies of grief... I completely start blubbering like a little baby."

T.W. McLellan says: "'Where the Red Fern Grows' made 'Old Yeller' look like a comedy."

But if you haven't seen the movie -- either the 1974 original or the 2003 remake staring Dave Matthews -- or somehow got out of reading it in grammar school, you are so in luck. We have a homemade cross-stitch to explain, after the jump.
