This past weekend, 18-year-old Florida high school student Tyler Weinman was arrested for the brutal killing and mutilation of nearly two dozen cats. The cat-killing spree had plagued residents of Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay, Fla., since April, when the first cats went missing. In all, Weinman was charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, four counts of burglary and 19 counts of improper disposing of an animal's body. And ironically, Weinman was a member of a Facebook group "Catch the Cat Killer."
What's especially disturbing about this story is how seemingly normal a kid Weinman is. His Myspace page (since deleted) shows he loves hockey, prank calls and snowboarding. And oh, did we mention he has a girlfriend? This cat killer has a girlfriend AND WE'RE STILL SINGLE. Sigh.

When I was a teenage girl, the only advice my dad gave me about men: "Any man who will be cruel to a cat will be cruel to a woman." It stood me in good stead. I've been happily married for 32 years, and my husband loves cats.

I totally agree! My ex-husband killed two of our cats, tried to strangle a third, and dumped a fourth in a canyon "to be eaten by coyotes." He also refused to pay for life saving surgery for a dog of ours that he called "Daddy's girl" and would yell at me if I took any of our sick pets to the vet. He threatened the other pets we had and started threatening me by placing his hands around my neck, acting like he was going to choke me and laughed at my facial expression. He did that almost every day for awhile. Thank God he's out of my life. I'm now dating a wonderful guy who loves all pets. This boy above is completely pyschopathic and needs to be put away for life.

So, if this creep abuses animals it's like the world is comming to an end.
And if he might abuse women it's almost as bad but if he were only abusing other boys as in bullying no one would care.
How many tens of thousands of bullies will abuse other boys today in and around school and no articles will be written about it and no one will care at all.
But if one of those traumatized bullied kids, trransfer the rage built up inside of them by the bullying onto women or animals THEN there will be media coverage and everyone will be calling HIM a psycho etc... not caring how he got that way.

what a disgusting person...and another story said he had to break into houses to get the cats...i have three cats and if he had killed one of them or even tried hurting them in any way o god would i be the most pissed off person hes EVER met...my cats are my life...and im only 15. they are so important i get pissed off when our dog barks at them for drinking from her water bowl they all have the same water and they fight over it...i cant imagine what the people who lost their cats are feeling right now...cause cats arent only pets but theyre friends and family...itd be like having someone kill your brother or sister or best friend.we need to love cats and dogs and other animals!for the sake of humanity

I wonder how many birds, lizards, butterflies, etc have died at this guy's hands?
I doubt very seriously if his deadly activities started with cats?
I'm sure that he was long accustomed to seeing small living creatures suffer and die before he started killing creatures as large as cats.
The sad part about it is that--due to his socio-economic status--he'll be afforded every opportunity to assimilate into society, unfettered by his history of committing sick, twisted, and depraved activities.
Is there somewhere that I can lay down a bet that one day we'll be reading about this loser using the opportunities his social status ENTITLES him to, to put himself in a position where he can kill and tortue people?
He already knows that no matter what he does, he'll be given 'ONE MORE CHANCE': as part of his ill-legacy.

A good, public whuppin' with a quality rattan cane might be in order here, followed-up with a stint in your local jail.
If the little shit can't sit for a few days, it might help "persuade" him that acting outside societal norms is unacceptable and that the penalty for any more of this type of behavior will become increasingly severe.
Perhaps we should follow other cultures that enact much more severe penalties on crimes like this. First offense: one finger gets clipped... Second offense... You get the idea.
