We've all heard stories about how sex goes out the window when marriage vows are exchanged and babies enter the picture. But how often are married couples really getting it on? According to a recent Q & A in The New York Times, the answer might surprise you.
Here, some stats on sex and marriage that may make you rethink your race to the altar. (Huh, maybe being single isn't so bad!)
1. Most married couples still make time for sex.
On average, married people have sex with their spouse 58 times a year. That's barely once a week! The numbers are higher for couples under 30, but still. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence. According to a separate study conducted by Durex in 2005, Americans average 113 sexual encounters per year.
Either married folks are getting some on the side or their single counterparts are getting laid a whole lot more to increase the average.
Of course, Lemondrop's own Steph Auteri says married sex is actually better, so clearly quality and quantity vary depending on the couple.
