james brownNumber two on our 11 Misogynistic Songs We Love Anyway list was James Brown's "It's a Man's World." But according to our readers and Twitter followers, that was a mistake. And after some careful reexamination of the lyrics, we've decided that, yes, readers, you are right.

Franklin Mint said: "I'd take the James Brown Song off of the list. While he does say that this is a man's world, he follows that up by saying that 'It would be nothing,NOTHING! without a woman or a little girl.' I can't agree that that's woman-unfriendly, in fact, I'd say that that holds women in pretty high regard."

In hindsight, Franklin Mint is right. James Brown was just trying to pay homage to the ladies in his own, personal way. I guess we can cut him a break, considering it was a different era and all.

Other suggestions for the list basically fell into two groups: anything by Frank Zappa or anything by the Rolling Stones. I guess when someone's as sexy as Mick Jagger, we don't really hear the words coming out of his mouth ... we're just focusing on those lips.

Also, reader Sarah Ann said "I believe that there shouldn't be any women bashing songs unless you post men bashing songs. Cause most of them are lying bastards anyways." Well, Sarah, this isn't quite what you're asking for, but there is a lot of overlap there, no?
