Identical twins marrying a set of identical twins -- it sounds like something from a soap opera. But it actually happened in Wuxi, China, so we can only hope that none of them are evil and/or homicidal. It was unusual enough when Jian Yang, one-half of a set of identical male twins, proposed to Juxiang Jiang, herself one-half of a matching set. But things got weirder when their identical siblings, Kang Yang and Lanxiang Zhang, fell in love at their engagement party. All this led to -- clearly -- a double wedding.
Of course, hilarity and confusion ensued. For instance, Kang once tried to hold his brother Jian's fiancee's hand on a group outing. Naturally, she didn't stop him, because she thought Kang was Jian. And there they stood, until Kang's fiancee helpfully corrected the error. (How did she know?)
Their parents consider the marriages a sign of great luck. Which is good, because with all the potential for accidentally adultery, they're going to need all the luck they can get. That, and name tags.

So, genetically will their children be indistinguishable as siblings? In other words, if they peformed a paternity test, will it be able to show which of the twins fathered a given child?

If a dna test done it wouldn't determine who the father was because their dna is similar there is a test that is performed that can tell though if going based on dna alone it would say both men is the father.

Interesting thought, I would think they would be indiscernible, seeing that identical twins are genetically the same.

If a paternaty was given they would not be able to tell who the father is because identical twins have identical dna because they came from the same fertilized egg...... crazy huh??

Yes; I am an identical twin, and our DNA may be exactly alike, but my twin and I are very different in facial features.....oh trust me, will those kids be different, twins or not.

Identical twin have the same DNA. If a DNA test was performed there would be no additional markers to exclude a party.

The DNA is the same, so either twin can pretty much be accused and both will come back as the father. The only difference (opposed to physical features) is their finger prints...no 2 ppl, twins or not, have the same prints.A better question is ~ what happens when a set of twins both deny paternity of a child when 1 really is the father, who'd gets stuck with the kid???

Genetically speaking children of both sets would have the same DNA. A paternity test would be useless. Identical twins share the same DNA.

Even tho they are identcal they have different dna as well (and ikely different fingerprints) their kids will inherit dna genes from all their past family history so they may or may not look anything alike. kind of like how you can have a blue-eyed child when both parents have brown eyes...

Their children are called "Double first cousins" and will be genetically CLOSER than siblings. This happened in my family, but a few generations back. It's kinda funny.

There was a tv show on with two American identical twin married couples, and both couples had children, and as I recall, the mothers took turns with the childcare for all of them. They (the twins) said that their children were, genetically-speaking, siblings. That being the case, the kids would all probably resemble one another about as much as any other siblings: sometimes a lot and sometimes not much at all.

Needless to say it gets interesting lol...

I realize the article was written tongue-in-cheek, but these twins don't look all that much alike in the photo. I am sure they will do just fine.

So does this mean that their kids would look alike? Identical cousins? That would be weird.
