Just when you thought looking for love on the Internet couldn't get any worse, a new study suggests that it may facilitate racism. Fantastic!

Researchers from UC-Irvine analyzed Internet personals and found that black women and Asian men were least sought after by white men and women -- who are in the majority of online daters -- in online ads, while Asians, Latinos and black people were less likely to disqualify potential dates by their race.

The social-science experts behind the study suggest that the culprit is the negative portrayal these two demographics are given by the media, noting that Asian men "are often portrayed as asexual" and that black female characters tend to be confined to a negative series of stereotypes, like "bossiness."

Apparently nobody's told these online daters that you shouldn't believe everything you see on TV. Hopefully, the world of Internet romance will get over what it "learned" from "Flavor of Love" and catch up with the rest of the real world.
