We've heard about kids who are deathly allergic to peanuts or bee stings or dust. But a mother who's allergic to water? That's sounds like something straight out of "The Wizard of Oz."

21-year-old Michaela Dutton has a rare allergy called aquagenic urticaria, which triggers a painful skin rash when she comes in contact with water. (No, she doesn't melt like the Wicked Witch of the West.) The chances of getting the condition are one in 230 million. (Britain's Daily Mail reports only 30-40 people in the world have aquagenic urea.)

If Dutton drinks tea or fruit juice, her throat swells up, so she sticks to Diet Coke instead. She can only tolerate showering for ten seconds once a week before her skin starts to blister, so the rest of the week she wipes down with a wash cloth.

Making the problem worse is that Dutton cannot bathe her 3-year-old son, Mitchell, or wipe away his tears for fear of an allergic reaction. The allergy started after she gave birth to Mitchell, which doctors say can trigger the medical condition. Unfortunately, researchers are still trying to figure out how to treat Dutton and other sufferers.
