You'd think it would be depressing to write about cancer, but the women we feature in this week's Lifespy are anything but. Whether they're kicking cancer in chemo or just dealing with everyday stresses, their posts are funny and insightful -- and they come with a healthy dose of inspiration without any Lifetime channel saccharine. The Stupid Cancer Blog: Cathy Bueti might be a breast cancer survivor, but the sight of pink products outside of October (Breast Cancer Awareness month, natch) makes her sick. How she manages sarcasm and humor (and the dreaded "pink nausea") after being diagnosed at age 31 (and being widowed at 24) is a mystery. It makes for some damn good reading, though.
The Adventures of BaldyLocks: BaldyLocks just wants to be normal again. But as she found out after being diagnosed with leukemia in 2006, that's easier said than done. Of course, she still has to deal with normal problems, like a leaky washing machine and lingering feelings for an old flame. Lucky for us, it's all amazingly riveting.
Cowgirl Attitude: Saying that somebody makes colon cancer interesting is probably one of the highest compliments you can bestow on a writer. And Terri of Cowgirl Attitude nails it. She was diagnosed after a routine colonoscopy, and while the blog is often heartbreaking, some of her posts -- like the one about how chemo let her fit into her skinny jeans -- are downright hilarious.
Tell us: Have you been inspired by someone with cancer? Did we miss any bloggers who deserve a shout-out? Share your thoughts in the comments.
