When 21-year-old Nikolas Evans died after a bar scuffle gone terribly wrong, his mother Marissa began a campaign to
get her hands on his posthumous sperm (um, not literally). While it may sound nuts (sorry, sorry), her reasoning is heartbreaking: She's desperate to find a surrogate and raise the grandchild because she claims her son always dreamed of having children someday.
We feel so bad for this lady, seriously, but we have to wonder if this is a decision made out of intense grief and not a young man's last wishes. (Also, explaining the sitch to this poor kid will be a real doozy.)

Anyone that has't experienced the loss of a child should not pass judgement.

There are enough unwanted children in the world already to guarantee the perpetuation of humanity forever even if every single person in the world that wanted a child of their own stopped reproducing.

I think it is fine. The mother obviously wants something to remember her son by and someone to carry on the name in the family...one more child in the world wouldn't hurt anyone.

Subject: Mom wants to harvest dead son's sperm.
This woman needs serious psychiatric help for even thinking of such a thing. I am the son of a mortician and once the dead are dead leave them alone. As a degreed psychologist I believe there are far too many dysfuntional people in this country.

Although I already stated my opinion I also agree wholeheartedly with Robert.

I think that this is borderline sick. This lady needs to get some serious counseling. She doesn't need a orphaned grandchild to make her feel better. It is so totally sad that a person can be so selfish to think that they can bring another human being into this world merely for their own gratification.

I think the mother is potentially sick and at least sick with grief, but I think if she wants the sperm then she should be able to have it if she is ready, willing, and able to care for the child/children as well as the procedure itself. It is a sad case though. I don't think I'd want to be the child of that dead son!
