It turns out that in addition to making you appear younger (or more terrifying; opinions vary), Botox has a tendency to make its smooth-skinned users happier. A recent study at Cardiff University in Wales has shown that by preventing people from frowning, Botox improves the well-being of people who get their faces all plumped up.
Apparently the expression on your face reinforces whatever emotions you're actually feeling, so if you're sad and you frown, you'll feel sadder.
But if you're sad and can't frown because you pumped your face full of toxins ... you'll feel better!
Ta-da! Looky there, an unexpected side effect of having a perfectly smooth, immobile forehead!
Although researchers admit the study was small, and more suggestive than conclusive, they do think it supports other research which says that Botox may one day be used to treat depression.

Botoxis available from nearly all skin clinics and medical spas. It is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium Botulinum Bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause glabellar lines (frown lines) that form between the brows over time. The process is non-surgical, physician administered treatment used for patients from ages 18-65. Botox can last up to 4 months but results may vary.
