Identifying Characteristics: This gal loves to drink –- and turns into a teeming pile of stank, gross feelings whenever she's had a Jameson or four too many. Sober, she's a fun pal; when drunk, her neuroses -- and her propensity for dancing like a stripper on non-stripper poles -- makes her stabworthy.

Field Study: Karen, 31, from San Francisco, Calif., says her FT Katie "has a heart of gold" but turns into a terrible wreck when she's wasted. Recently Katie got drunk and lost her keys and Karen kindly took her in.

"She was on the verge of hysterics and spent the next five hours sitting at my kitchen table, telling me about her breakup with her boyfriend Phil -- even though I was clearly BUSY WORKING ON MY LAPTOP," says Karen.

"She topped things off on a high note by over-sharing the fact that Phil had never liked me, explaining that it was only through her own intervention that Phil finally could be convinced that I was a decent human being! Believe me, I was so relieved when she was finally able to get her keys and leave my apartment."

Why You Keep Drunky Brewster Around: She's basically a good person and friend with a teensy little problem controlling her alcohol intake.
