Before you eat your next meal, take a good long look at it -- and take a picture. A University of Wisconsin-Madison study recommends that if you're looking to lose weight you should spend a second snapping pics of your food. The 43 participants in their study found that by taking pics of what they ate they noticed more about their eating habits. The photos helped them realize when portions were too big, or when meals were lacking in fruits and veggies. We once took pictures of what we ate for a week, too. But the pictures (at left), had little impact on what we ate; instead it just made us way more self-conscious of how our meals looked. We spent way more time styling our meals for the photos. And it made us realize that we often ate the same things day after day (and usually from bowls!). Eventually, like every diet we've ever been on, we gave up. Photo fail.
