Rats playing guitars = good way to catch the Plague. Cats playing guitars = most awesome thing ever.

Animal trainer Samantha Martin decided her rat band wasn't drawing crowds that could pay the bills, and she could make more money doing a show of trained cats.

The appeal is pretty clear -- it is nigh on impossible to get a cat to do anything, so training them to perform could be high comedy. (Not to mention there are more "cat people" than "rat people.")

So Samantha got to work and taught a group of 13 cats to ride skateboards, jump through hoops and "play" musical instruments. She even offers some pointers for training your own kitty.

Being cats, they don't always do what they're supposed to. Sometimes they'd rather just lay on stage and stretch for a little bit. "Their music sucks," Samantha admits to the Chicago Tribune. Still, the Rock Cats play shows in Chicago and around the Midwest, and hope to be the next Taco Bell Chihuahua.
