We can't stand "American Idol" contestant Adam Lambert, we admit it. We hate his flat-ironed man bouffant and straight-outta-Hot-Topic guylinered look. And his campy over-singing makes us want to retch. Last week the AI judges practically jumped onstage and handed Lambert the competition after he sang a drama-fied version of Michael Jackson's "Black or White." But this week Simon finally saw the light and was horrified by his hideous sitar-driven rendition of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire." (A classic!) Thank God.
Side note: Adam, lock up that tanned, waxed chest, please.

I LOVE Adam Lambert. Yes he did HORRIBLE last night, but what singer hasn't had an off night (besides Carrie or the Davids). Seriously though, Adam has an incredible voice and he doesn't deserve all the harshness because he messed up once. And as for his looks, most people these days look and dress like that. And more than that, people think it's hott. The older generation just doesn't understand how style works these days. Adam may not have gotten my vote last night for his song, but if I could have voted on his looks, I'd have given him a 10!

The older generation doesn't understand how style works these days? what is that supposed to mean? I am 24 and agree completely with the article about his looks. No one I hang out with has a flat-ironed man bouffant. Sounds like you also shop at Hot Topic. Gross.

I really enjoy watching him. He doesn't fit into any standard category and he's true to himself, not to mention that he has an amazing voice. I imagine some people want the same-old same-old stuff. I got what he did with that country song last night...he rocked it rocker style with some sweet goth mixed in. Yes, he's different, but that's why I enjoy him so much. Obviously, the voters think so too....

Uh yeah, Allison, i've NEVER shopped at Hot Topic in my life. I live out of Hollister and American Eagle. But i think Adam is hott. Just because someone dresses punk or goth doesn't mean they're ugly. It means they're unique and like to stand out.
&& when I say "older generation" I mean like, 40 and over. But truly, if you look in any normal high school nowadays, you'll see that a good 25% of students dress punk. It's the "thing" right now and most girls find it attractive.

Julie - you are a superficial, ignorant individual. The fact that you call Adam's complex, brilliant vocals "campy" and spent the majority of your discourse insulting his looks proves your shallowness.
Your self importance is humorous. Almost as humorous as Randy "red state" Travis discussing his shock at Adam's nail polish. No wonder Johnny Cash felt that the country music establishment betrayed him. He would have respected Adam's risk taking.
p.s. The day after the performance, Simon still stated that Adam was his favorite contestant.

Has Adam Lambert camped up his appearance and performances. You bet he has and so what!
Have you ever heard anyone go from a natural Irish tenor into falsetto and back with such ease? If you've ever tried then you'd have to realize how difficult it is to be as good as Adam. Compare his falsetto to Anoop's for example. Here's a guy who's a dismally average singer, like most of us.. He has little power in his falsetto and is pitifully amateurish when he ATTEMPTS a return to his normal singing voice. Trust me, it's always easier to go into falsetto than to get out of it.
On the downside, I wouldn't recommend that Adam pursue an operatic career. His voice is too thin and reedy. But when he does any other genre, with his ability to go in and out of falsetto effortlessly, he's in a class of his own. As far I'm concerned, I don't really care if he's more Liberace than Clint Black. I don't have to love him or his life style to love his talent.

Okay, so we'll just vote for another blonde, mildly attractive guy with a decent, generic singing voice like every other season.
Adam lambert is DIFFERENT, he has style, he has a personality, and he attracts the younger audience (which is the target audience for the show).
Ask any middle school/high school aged girl. No one else is complaining.

i'm around adam's age but actually he is attracting tons of mothers, even grandmothers! and not only because of his incredible singing and looks but his sweet, humble, and riveting personality. maybe not everyone liked ring of fire but it was certainly brave and more unique than any other contestant
