If you have to quit your job, but want to cement that positive recommendation, perhaps you should do what Neil Barrett did, and hand in your resignation on a gigantic, delicious cake.

Barrett worked at the Hunters Point Naval Shipyard in San Francisco for three years and loved it, but recent health issues have forced him to leave his place of employment.

Neil has gained a lot of support from followers on the photo-sharing Web site Flickr, where he has posted a pic of himself holding the gigantic cake. Perhaps he will be able to use this support to help him get a new job if he decides to go back to work.

It's probably the best way to show there are no hard feelings, unless of course the boss is a diabetic.

Of course, if you don't trust yourself to be as nice as Neil's was -- the letter included standard lines like, "I am proud to have been part of such an outstanding team and I wish this organization only the finest in future endeavors," -- you could simply ice it to read, "Eat it. I'm outta here."
