Each season of "America's Next Top Model," we patiently wait for the makeover extravaganza, always the best episode of the set. And Cycle 12's makeover episode was no exception. There were crying fits and hair extensions -- and some horrible new looks. Our favorite worst? Big-eyed Allison's super-fake blonde locks that make her look like a porn-y animé character. No thanks. We kind of admire Tyra's sadistic streak. She certainly knows how to turn a roomful of girls into a steaming, sobbing, hair-hacked mess. Below, a rundown of our all-time favorite ANTM hair disasters: too-tight weaves, bad dye jobs and more. Enjoy, and be glad it's not you.
ANTM
ODIOUS WEAVES
Brittany's red mess became more matted and more tangled with each episode. Tuning in to Cycle 8 each week was like watching a sad little animal die a slow and painful death. (Cycle 8)
CW/ANTM
ODIOUS WEAVES
Debatably the worst makeover of all time, bowl-cutted Saleisha still managed to take home the Cycle 9 crown. Things that make you go hmmm...
CW/ANTM
ODIOUS WEAVES
Poor, poor Megg and her heavy, heavy weave. Way too much hair for such a little face. (Cycle 7)
CW/ANTM
TOTALLY FRIED
Bleached bland! Jenah walked in as an adorable pixieish carrottop and left as a washed-out towhead. (Cycle 9)
CW/ANTM
TOTALLY FRIED
We loved Whitney's original alluring black haired/blue eyed look. But this blonde 'do brought her whole aura somewhere in the Anna Nicole realm. (Cycle 10)
CW/ANTM
TOTALLY FRIED
Michelle's deep-fried bleach job proved once and for all that blonde for blonde's sake is not always the best option. (Cycle 4)
CW/ANTM
TOTALLY FRIED
Amanda looked otherworldly (and not in the good way) after Ty-Ty's hyper-bleached-out blonde treatment. We liked her better as a brunette. (Cycle 3)
CW/ANTM
CRIMES AGAINST BLACK HAIR
TYRA! We know you feel sad and conflicted about your own natural head of hair, but please! Do. Not. Relax. Natural. Black Hair. Like Ambreal's. (Cycle 9)
CW/ANTM
CRIMES AGAINST BLACK HAIR
Especially when it ends up making the lovely lady Marvita look "horse-y." (Cycle 10).
CW/ANTM
CRIMES AGAINST BLACK HAIR
Cassandra's delicate features drowned in her larger-than-life weave. (Cycle 8)
CW/ANTM

Wow, she really DOES look like an anime porn star in the after pic. I definitely prefer the almost "girl next door" look of the before shot.

Yeah...it looks like someone over at ANTM needs to get their butt fired..
what a catastrophe...
these girls were so much in tune with what worked and what didn't work..
they knew 'looking slutty" was not how they wanted to portray themselves..
tsk! tsk!

I think they give them these awful looks so the girls boo hoo it up for ratings. The fashion industry can be unsympathetic.

Julie Gerstein, It is sooo very stupid for a white girl to have convictions and/or declarations about Black hair. You have absolutely no credibility nor the authority to do so - absolutely ridiculous.

Why is it that people usually take a brunette or a black haired girl and dye them blond?? Honestly, if they wanted to dye my hair blond id be swingin fists.

Actually, ikekhan, this gallery was created as a collaboration between women of all backgrounds, who are well-qualified to speak on the Ty-Ty's crimes against black hair.

Almost without exception - these after photos prove the antitheses of mission accomplished. One even went so far as to makeover a young lady as homage to the great Josephine Baker in her early days-hey-if the young lady was OK with that fine otherwise-it's not only passe` but insulting. Are these young women seeking modeling jobs, if so in what magazines? Undertakers quarterly? Whoever the responsible party ('s) are for this group of disasters best run for cover-as in shelter-we'd hate to be reading about a gang of wanna be modles putting someone in hospital in serious -conditonER!

In most cases, the girls looked better BEFORE the makeover. Tyra Banks is obnoxious, air-headed, no talent (except on runway with her mouth shut). Plus she comes off as mean on her show anyway....a definite "DO NOT WATCH".

She is not air headed in anyway. How many high fashion models do you know of who would go on national t.v and talk about her many flaws? She puts a message out there for young girls everywhere that even with being a model. your body doesn't have to be perfect and I love that about her. As for some of her makeovers, yeah some aren't that great, but when you look at runway models and runway shows, you'll see that a lot of them too are ugly and messed up hairstyles. Tyra is just preparing these girls for what it's like in the fashion world. Everyone starts out low and you will have to do things that you don't want to do. If you cant handle it, then you're entering in the wrong profession.

Well yes some of the after shots of the girls are not so good with their new looks...but, Tyra asks all of the designers what it is they are looking for before every season starts...so many of the looks are those designers are asking for...If you walk into a go see and you dont the way they want you to hair and all...they turn you away many times without even looking at your other photos. So its important to have the looks they are requiring at that time...and it always changes. All four seasons need different styles and different women....I think many of the photos shown are without all of the liquify and colors that are added to ALL models pictures...its a fantasy none of these girls actually look like they do in magazines...you can get close to how you look but, everything from changing the color of eyes to extreme added colors used by professional model photographers makes any girl look unreal. They can lighten the skin or darken it....many of these photos are just without any of the glamor that is usually added to pictures. Many of the cuts look bad because the hair was not done right or the girls had such poor quality of hair there was nothing else to be done about it....many of these girls come onto the show with very damaged hair from being over processed...If a stylist finds over processed hair they will cut it ALL off. Its one of their bad habits. With colors certain colors can hide certain flaws.....so if cutting the hair is not an option coloring is...

Obviously Tyra is conflicted about her own looks or maybe trying to work out the Naomi Campbell situation still. EVERY time a black girl is rocking a nice natural look or a slamming Afro (Jade, Amina, etc.) she seems to try to weave them into a Naomi Campbell look or cut it all off and dye it blond. Not only does it not look good, weave is damaging to the natural hair. There are some nasty shots of the damage to Naomi's hair floating around the internet and I don't doubt that under the wigs, Beyonce, Tyra and a bunch of other weave-wearers real locks are suffering too. And, the short blond look on Sandra makes her look butch, just like it did on Jade. It's not flattering and though I'm not a big fan of either girl, it doesn't even seem fair.
Tyra! No more shaves and no more part in the middle long weaves...
Played out!
