What is it about models falling down on the runway that strikes us as so especially hilarious? We guess it might have something to do with the sheer schadenfreude of seeing the thin and beautiful look just as stupid as the rest of us for once. A model who wiped out at a West Hollywood fashion show last year doesn't see the humor -- she's suing several involved companies. Sarah Welch, of "The Bachelor" fame, fell through a hole made by a martial-arts-sword dancer and into a moat at the show.
Why there was a sword dancer, perhaps we'll never know. All we do know is that Sarah sauntered out and immediately stepped, Homer Simpson-style, directly into the hole, which coincidentally was almost exactly the size of her body.
Claiming "great injuries to her body" and "shock and injuries to her nervous system," she is suing for negligence and seeking unspecified damages. We think she might want to tack "extreme embarrassment due to repeat YouTube viewings of said runway fall" to her list of grievances.
Check out video of the model taking a plunge after the jump.
What Your Walk Reveals
Ever wonder what people think when they see you walking down the street? The answer may be more revealing than you'd expect. Body language expert Kevin Hogan, Pys.D., and author of Irresistible Attraction: Secrets of Personal Magnetism, (KevinHogan.com) fills us in.

You're Innocent (Ha!)
When you hold your hands together in front of you, creating a V-shape, you come across as open and slightly innocent. You'll draw people to you with this inviting stance and some may even feel protective of you.

You're in Charge
Got a long stride and eyes that stay focused on your destination? No one will mistake you as a wallflower with this walk. Here, you are broadcasting that you know where you're going, like things your way, and have confidence to spare.

You're Nervous
Tucking your hair behind your ears, scratching your nose, or rubbing your arms makes you look anxious. Fiddling may just be an old habit to you, but those watching you will think you're nervous and maybe even dishonest.

You're on the Warpath
You may be trying to do a sexy, runway walk, but keeping your hands on your hips achieves exactly the opposite. Others will perceive you as hostile and super aggressive. You'll come across much hotter if you keep your shoulders back and arms at your side.

You're Blazing-Hot in Bed
A recent study found that you (er, scientists at least) can infer a woman's potential for vaginal orgasms by the way she walks. It sounds crazy, but according to the research-published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine- a woman with an energetic, fluid stride climaxes more often than someone with a shorter stride. (This gives new meaning to the phrase "pep in your step"!)

You're a Multi-Tasker
A fast walker who's on her phone or searching through her bag has a "back-off" vibe. You're probably just trying to make the most of your time, but you're sending a serious unapproachable signal. Lose the speediness and continue to use your phone or look through your purse and you'll be seen as much more welcoming.

You're Knock-Upabble
According to a study published in the Archives of Sexual Medicine that used motion-capture technology, women walk slightly differently when they're ovulating. Researchers then showed men clips of women walking and had them rate their attractiveness, and found that men were actually more attracted to the women who weren't in their fertile phase.

You're Gritting Your Teeth
A stiff upper body and arms that don't move broadcast that you're feeling tense. You may just have something on your mind, but those around you will perceive you as being pissed or uncomfortable. For a more natural look, lower your shoulders and gently swing your arms as you stride.

You're a Free Spirit
Being a slowpoke shows that you live in a world of your own. You're not concerned with keeping up with those around you and take your time to do things exactly how you want – relaxed and unhurried. Those with short, leisurely strides fall into the same category.

Don't people normally LOOK where they are going? Is that model partially blind too? Give me a break that's such a load of crap.

As a model, no, she's not. She is focusing on doing her job, and doing it right. Incidentally, her job is not to look at her feet. How many runway models have you seen glancing down every two steps to make sure that their artificial environment hasn't been damaged? I personally, have never seen any! It's unattractive and creates a feeling that the person has a lack of confidence in themself and what he or she is doing. Bad for business. In that line of work you are taught to keep your head UP. She is also on the runway. There should be no cracks or holes in the floor, it creates a dangerous and hazardous work environment as was just shown. I can't believe that they didn't fix that before sending people out.

being amodel, you are trained and required to look forward, not down, you have to look straight down the runway to the end as if the one you love is there and youre looking him/her in the eyes... when you look down as you walk its consider to be an insecurity and youre not comfortable with yourself or your walk... nut stupid but its a part of training... if you watch, youll notice models dont look down, they r focused and keep a forward stare..

If you're too lazy to LOOK where you are going then expect to fall on your face period. You have peripheral vision and there is absolutely no reason not to glance down a runway. Again, common sense was lacking here and people are dumb enough to defend it! If you are trained to be lazy then that is your problem - not the courts. I understand walking with your head held high but people have fallen on runways without holes too. Did they sue? No.

You look where your going when walking in the streets, not a runway. How many models do you know that look down when they are walking? ones that don't get booked. There isn't supposed to be a hole in a runway. nuff said.

I think she has a great case. There is an expectation that there would not be holes in a modeling runway. The only mitigating factor would be if someone in the back was warning them to steer clear of the recent-made hole. But otherwise, I know they are told to never look down, but to hold their heads high and look off.

I agree with Joy. It should be a pretty easy win. Obvious liability in a number of ways. Bless her heart.

Models look straight ahead. They can't be looking down or no one can see their sad faces. Why don't models ever smile? Don't they make lots of money, fame and their pictures plastered everywhere? Oh, they don't ever smile, because they don't get to eat and they have a schedule that is not their own. They also make themselves vomit when they do eat and the stomach acid eats away their teeth. Most models have fake teeth. Need something typed? Maryland Secretarial Services, Inc. www.webmss.com

Models are not supposed to look down. Head held high and all. The question is why did they continue on with the show? or at least tell the poor girl it was there.... for Pete's sake.

Even with your head up peripheral vision would show the hole. It almost looked fake since she stepped directly into the hole. I was ice fishing and stepped into a large hole but only my leg went in not my whole body.

she might win her case, but i think that may be the end of her modelling career. i don't think anybody would invite her to walk a runway ever again.

shock and injuries to her nervous system? give me a break. You fell in a hole what, 2 feet deep? Get over it. It would be negligent if the hole was there from the beginning of the show and they new about it and didn't fix it. But it happened during the show and I would guess that in all the chaos that is usually backstage of these events, someone didn't get a chance to tell her to walk around the hole. It sucks and it's embarrassing and she should have been warned--but these things happen all the time in live performance, which modelling is--so move on.

OMG, are you kidding!!! if you watched and listened you could hear the crowd gasp when the hole was made and the fact that it was seen shouldve been a cue to stop any music and cut on the lights and stop the show... come on, seriously, they saw it happen and let the show continue.. if it was you up there would you say *Oh its ok, maybe they didnt see it?? lol, doubt that highly...

She should win this case easily!! This is obviously a case of extreme neglegence and for those who say she should have seen it with "peripheral vision"....That vision is not totally 360 degrees..and if your head is held up high like a models is supposed to be you would not see what is on the floor.Plus it could have looked like a decoration to her or anything else that models are ised to seeing on runways!! This was not her fault and for people who find it funny when someone falls it would not be so funny if it was you who had fallen and had hurt yourself I am sure or had it played over and over like ths...It is terrible how cruel a society we have become!!

Why didn't the last act look to see if the runway was clear. The guys in red are at fault. The model has got every right to sue.She shouldn't have to look down at her feet. The bandanna was supposed to be picked up.And...Why didn't someone else pick it up while they were filming it laying there.Anyone could have fell on it.I hope she sues for everything they got and then some! Bunch of Morons...

That's funny, she seemed to take it all in stride in this interview back in '07.

"It is just a really funny mishap," she told KABC-TV. "I hope they're enjoying watching it just as much as I am!"
