Miniature Mammals!
Dwarf Hippopotamus: Dwarf hippos originated in West Africa and tend to be reclusive and nocturnal animals. And very, very cute.
Dwarf Hippopotamus: This hippo and her baby are dwarfs, but still way bigger than you and me.

not all miniature horses trace to shetlands. Horses left in south america by spanish explorers bred down over years and were rediscovered later in their miniature form and imported from argentina to the US.

miniature horses do not make good service animals. I wish people would quit promoting this concept.

Have you ever worked with a service Mini? I happen to have a colt that was originally trained for it; but pulled out of the program to become a show horse instead. His brother, is a fully registered service mini; whom serves his handler VERY well. He does everything to help her out, and I'm very proud of him!
Miniature horses are brilliant, and they listen very well to those whom need them. It takes a special heart to open up and let them in.
Don't speak against them, unless you've had experience working with them.

all miniature horses have small pony breeding. It is impossible to make a horse smaller by breeding down from full size horses.

Of course they are not good service animals. They are useless. They are kept like pets. People get bored and breed things for no reason but boredom. I guess

I think that mini animals are so cute and would make good companions to blind or dissabled people like mini horses to big to be a dog to small to be a horse and they are great for little kids like a 2yr old whose parents are afraid that they are going to get hurt the mini horse is just the right size!!!!

As to those who comment about the horses being service animals..
no one said that the people who made this gallery/article were intelligent...
"miniature weinerdog".. couldnt do the research to learn how to spell DACHSHUND?
"Miniature chihuahua"? Chihuahuas come in ONE size.. there's no "mini" versions.. they are the smallest dog breed at 6 pds or less.. there's no smaller sizes, because they are already the smallest breed!

My sister in law has a tea cup chihuahua whitch weighs maybe a pound. So yes, chihuahuas can be smaller than "normal" size. As for them not spelling out Dachshund, so what!! It was cut calling them wiener dogs, which I am the proud owner of one. And we call him a wiener dog all the time. Get the stick out of your butt you pompus twit!!
Apparently you have never seen a teacup chihuahua or you wouldnt be saying that chihuahuas come in only one size. Maybe YOU should do some research before you speak.

Aside from the fact that they promote mini horses as service animals.. a few other things that proove that the people who wrote this article/gallery are idiots..
"Mini Wienerdog".. they couldnt take the time to do research and find that its spelled DACHSHUND.
"Mini Chihuahua".. Chihuahuas come in ONE size only! There are no "mini" versions, or any other size. They are considered the smallest breed at 6 pds or less.

I'm sure that they know that they are called Dachsunds. Lighten up. Are these blogs the place where people throw out all the anger within them? Sounds like it.

Most miniatures are stunted, deformed animals! "Guide horses' must have a companion horse to live with them, so you're talking about keeping 2 of them. Everything man manipulates is uaually defective. Look at show dogs, especially the Cocker Spaniel. Can you imagine taking such a dog into the field? Without extensive clipping the dog is just a big hair ball. The temperament has been ruined as well.

No reputable dog breeder would deliberately aim to produce "teacup" toy dogs such as Chihuahuas or Yorkies or Poodles. Chihuahuas and Yorkshire Terriers and Toy Poodles are already very small dogs; to deliberately try to reduce their size from the standard of various kennel clubs (i.e. AKC, CKC, FCI) would imperil the health of these already physically delicate dogs. Ditto for the other end of the spectrum - there is no 'breed' or 'variety' of Emperor Poodle Doberman; they are merely catchy names tacked on to various dogs who happened to be born oversized for their breeds. If some unscrupulous person is deliberately, in defiance of breed standards, breeding Teacup Poodles or Yorkies or Chihuahuas, they should be avoided at all costs.
