When signs over the front door read "Over 18 only" and "No cameras, no touching, cash only," you're usually at a strip club. But in tiny Vassalboro, Maine, those signs indicate you've arrived at the Grand View Topless Coffee Shop, where the coffee is hot and the wait staff is, well, cold. (Video below if you wanna check out the ambiance.)The new coffee shop had its grand opening yesterday. When the Kennebec Journal stopped by, three topless women and one bare-chested man were on hand to serve two middle-aged men, the shop's only customers.
One of the waitresses, Susie Wiley, 23, told reporters she did not think the shop was degrading to women. Instead, she found working half-naked "very empowering." Sure, it's all empowering until somebody spills a steaming hot latte on their exposed skin.

Kitty, you may have told your daughter this fib because you don't want her doig such work, but as a frequent visitor of establshments where women do not wear any clothing, you should know that many of them are paying off their student loans by doing tat work. In fact, my lawyer was once a dancer, and her biggest gripe is that he doesn't earn as much now as when she was "more perky".
I doubt topless donut girls will make that kind of money, but they will do better their than at Dunkin Donuts but perhpas not as well as a Starbucks employee. If you want your daughter to succeed in the new economy that is replacing the old, I suggest that you teach her to grow organic food and fuel, because otherwise she will just be another post-industrial peasant-even if she gets a good education in a field that once yieded a "good living". mark my words-grown food and fuel if you want to prosper.

kitty22cape, I've actually been in strip clubs talking to the girls who are using it as a way to work their way through college. Granted, there may be more ethical/moral ways of doing it, but name one that can pay better for an 18 or 19 year old woman who may not have any other means of paying for college than to work. Don't you think that maybe a coffee house like this would give single mothers a chance to earn that type of money while still being home to put their children to bed at night. I agree it's a shame that this sort of thing is one of the best ways for a woman to make money, but, sometimes, you have to do what you have to do.
