In case you haven't heard, R&B singer Chris Brown turned himself in over the weekend for felony battery charges after an alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna. Brown suffered no injuries, but his victim -- who has not yet been named by police -- was left with visible bruises on her face.

Both singers canceled planned Grammy performances Sunday night, and neither attended the awards ceremony. Brown turned himself in to Los Angeles police and was booked on "suspicion of making criminal threats." He's free after posting $50,000 in bail.

As a music fan, can you separate the artist from the man? Or does Brown's personal drama impact your ability to appreciate his work?

He isn't the first celeb to assault his partner. He joins a long list of famous men with DV charges against them, including James Brown, Tom Sizemore, Steven Adler, Dennis Rodman and Josh Brolin. (No charges were leveled against Brolin).

How do you feel when a celeb you love and admire do despicable things? (Most fans seemed to shrug off James Brown's convictions and he remained a soul icon until he died -- R. Kelly even managed to sell records in the face of statutory rape and child porn charges.) How will Chris Brown and Rihanna fans respond to the news? Will fans boycott his next records and videos?
