Love your cat a lot (maybe too much)? Want to have a little piece of your kitty with you even after she's gone? Then have cat groomer Danelle German make a handbag out of your cat's fur. Danelle takes the extra hair she shaves off of her Persian cat clients and spins it into yarn. She then knits the furry skeins into kitten-soft purses and sweaters.A great way to keep your beloved pet close to your heart, or totally gross? You decide.

You stupid idiots!!!
Its art!!!.. geez they decide to do it because it doesn't hurt their pets and its creative.
Why the hell "you" would do it??.. hell if I know, but it's their choice to do it and obviously they like it.
It's not barbaric, it's art.
It's not even harmful, it's just a grooming.

Totally cool! I want one. The only difference between this and buying, say, a wool bag is that you actually know the animal the hair is coming from. Really neat and creative. Anyone who has worn leather, wool, cashmere, angora, silk, etc. before and still thinks this is weird probably hasn't really thought their opinion through. The great thing about this is no kitties are harmed, and the material comes from something that would normally be shed and thrown away anyway. Kudos to the "artist".

People have been useing animal hair to my yarn for thousands of years. There is nothing gross or Spectacular about it. Yet people here act like it is some revolutionary new idea. It is not like they are skinning the cat to make a fur coat. Though I have no problem with people using animal skins to make stuff with. The idiots at PETA who shun using anomals as god intended need to get a life. Now i would not use my pets to make coats and stuff.

Good grief, they didn't say kill them and eat them like China, they said make bags and clothes out of their fur. What a novel idea. That is what the Free Enterprise system is all about.

as a fiber artist, i find nothing weird or creepy about using animal hair to make yarns. i'm sure nearly everyone here has worn a wool sweater. why is a sheep less creepy than someone's clean little house cat? i raise sheep, a fiber bunny and a great pyrenees-who sheds his own wonderful downy fiber-all of whom smell great once processed and washed) there have been many a day where i have walked by my sheep pasture and smelled those creatures. sheep don't smell better than cats.... i can't remember the last time i walked past any of my cats and actually smelled them.
so there's my 2 cents. i believe though, that i have enough experience in this area to make these assertions!

Actually, it sounds weird, but if you are weirded out by using the cat hair, are you weirded out about wool, cashmere, or angora wool? These are all made by animal hairs. Hey it even much more nasty that people wear the skin of animals... purses, jackets, pants, shoes, hats.....
Just a thought.....

Isnt anybody concerned about causing strangers to have allergic reactions? say you are waiting in line at a store.. and someone in back of you is allergic to cats? Woudlnt they be sneezing thier heads off? Is it really wize to make creations out of a fur that so many people are allergic to? Just a thought. Other than that I think is a novel idea.

Wow you guys are all a bunch of idiots!!! The cats ARE NOT harmed!!! Isnt this just like when people sheer sheep? Or how about when a person gets their hair cut then wigs are made from it? ITS THE SAME DAMN THING!!!!! Grow up people!!!! I love animals and I dont believe in harming an animal for any reason but for goodness sake the lady is taking leftover cat hair off her grooming table and making use of it. I think its admirable. Do you think the cat really gives a second thought about what happens to their hair when they leave the groomers? Such a bunch of morons!!!

What if someone is allergic to the items made with cat fur? Imagine standing in line at the grocery store and someone behind you is sneezing thier head off because you have a purse made of cat fur. Is there a way of washing the fur to get rid of the dander prior to using it to make things? if thats the case then I think its a novel idea. Cat fur is so soft and warm.. birds and other animals have used it to line thier nests for ages.. good stuff and it isnt hurtnig the cats so as long as it doesnt cause anyone to sneeze thier heads off I say why not.

I think this is great! I just lost a dear pet, who I had cremated. I wish I had kept a lock of his hair, and I think it would be great to have something like this! In Victorian times, people wore jewelry that incorporated the hair of their loved ones. I have some from my family. It isn't gross at all. People have revered relics of the departed, including the saints of course, for a very long time. It is a way of connecting, in this plane, with part--the earthly part--of someone who has gone on.

Hmm, lots of cat haters here... What should we rather have crap made from dog hair? Prickly, smelly, and otherwise dull to the touch? Cat hair is one of God's finest creations. 'Nuff said.

Are the sorry excuse for animals being killed forthe fur???? Oh wait they are not, danm, to bad I really despise cats. They are useless, song bird killing, sofa scratching, nasty box pooing, carpet clawing, knuckle dragging, non edible, nussances that should be hunted and used to lie old women's slippers for warmth and comfort. ;-)
