Fran Drescher, New York Senator? Hey, it's no more preposterous than... say... Arnold Schwarzenegger, California Governor. The comedian and former star of "The Nanny" just announced her interest in Hillary Clinton's Senate seat.

From her spokeswoman: "Fran Drescher, actress, women's health advocate and public diplomacy envoy for the US State Department, announced that she is throwing her hat into the ring of contenders for the senate seat being vacated by Secretary of State-designate Hillary Rodham Clinton."

Come on, she corralled three (fictional) children on television -- how could one not consider Drescher totally qualified to serve as a US Senator?
