Ten Dumbest Money Mistakes
Mistake #1: Being Ashamed to Invest Small Amounts
With this attitude, you'll never save anything. What is small to one investor may be huge to another.
Solution: Begin saving something from your next paycheck. The dollar amount is not important. Developing the habit of saving is.

Mistake #2: Having Inadequate Emergency Savings
Without this nest egg you could wind up deeply in debt.
Solution: Stash three to six months' worth of living expenses in a money market fund or bank CD.

Mistake #3: Leaving Cash in a Bank Savings Account
The interest rate is far too low.
Solution: Move it immediately to a money market fund, money market deposit account, or online bank.

Mistake #4: Operating Too Many Accounts
If you have several bank accounts, a number of mutual funds, and brokerage accounts, you're spending too much on service fees. And it's way too difficult to keep track of rates, prices, and other details.
Solution: Consolidate. Have one checking account, two or three mutual funds, and one brokerage account.

Mistake #5: Confusing Income with Appreciation
If you don't know what an investment is for, you're likely to hold or sell the wrong thing. Do not expect growth stocks and growth mutual funds to pay high dividends or income. Do not expect CDs or bonds to rise in price.
Solution: Read up on these.

Mistake #6: Avoiding Financial Goal Setting
Yogi Berra said it best: "If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going to wind up someplace else." Most people devote more time planning their vacations than their financial future. Consequently, they spend as much or more on cruises, airline tickets, and hotels than they do funding their retirement accounts or building up a nest egg.
Solution: Set just one or two specific goals. Write them down and discuss them with a stockbroker or financial adviser.

Mistake #7: Failing to Diversify
It's tempting to put all your money in one place because it's convenient and easy. No investment is ever sufficiently profitable or safe to justify this lazy approach.
Solution: Divide your assets among CDs, money market funds, stocks, bonds, Treasuries, and real estate.

Mistake #8: Procrastinating
Most of us put off making financial decisions because we're afraid we'll do the wrong thing.
Solution: Set time deadlines and take several small, easy investment steps, one at a time. For example, if you have $3,000 on hand in week number one, put one-third into a money market fund. The next week, buy a bank CD. The following week, use the remaining amount to buy shares of a blue chip mutual fund.

Mistake #9: Ignoring Savings Plans at Work
Tax-deferred 401(k) or stock purchase plans are good deals, especially if your company matches your contribution. So are automatic EE Savings Bond programs.
Solution: Talk to your benefits officer this Monday.

Mistake #10: Failing to Have a Will
If you care about the other people in your life, keep an updated will.
Solution: Call your lawyer this week.

The most awkward moments this year had nothing to to do with Sara Palin.
It was Barack Obama's sexist campaign against both Palin and Hillary Clinton, and his age-ist campaign against John McCain that were the most awkward.
Worse yet, was the lip-service liberal elitist Democrats' absolute silence while Obama supporters and the complicit media used Chicago style dirty tactics against all three - McCain, Clinton and Palin.
And then of course there was the absolute silence about racial minorities' collective prejudice against gay people. - Absolutely disgraceful. Shame on them.
Who'd have thought the Democrats would have turned out to be more effective in their prejudice against women, the elderly and gays then the Republicans who have been trying for years?
This is the real disgrace.

Also and NeNe got evicted out of her house or apt when we heard on the radio, last week!!! She spent 6,600 dlrs for her son's suit for his graduation?? Huh? I wouldnt spent 6,600 dlrs for ONE SUIT!! Why she didnt pay her house payment, first and spent 6,600 suit? House are the most important than other things. You dont want to be homeless or back with their parents, again??? What an idiot!! I do not like NeNe's personality on TV. She's liar, too and backstabbing to other people, too. I thought Kim was nice lady till she told everyone she had cancer then it wasnt? I agreed that she shouldnt have said that on the national tv and hurt all the people's feeling and blame her. I would agreed if Housewives of Atlanta director would threw NeNe and Kim out of the show.. I MEAN BOTH!!!

This two bit tramp should have her ugly head shaved and made to appear with no hair! Then she would know what it' slike fo rsoneone to really have this awful disease. People like her have no place in society and should be sent to the gallows, to spare us from her self centered illness.

I watched the show, and I'm not taking up for her, but what she actually said was she THOUGHT she had cancer...So don't be jerks and say she said some thing that she really didn't to try and make her look bad...She has done enough on her own to do that without people twisting her word to make her look worse...Get the story straight...

Wow..this show proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that money DOES NOT buy class, respect, or happiness. Kay, I agree with you. I keep tuning into this show as I would watching two trains collide or driving past a car wreck, cringing all the way through, but still peeking in on the "high-bred elite" of Atlanta. Ha ha ha They don't have anything but fleeting fame and quick money and looks that will sag and disappear very soon. I can't believe how trashy these folks act even though they live in houses 10 times bigger than mine.

I hope they do not bring back the Real Wives of Atlanta........That was an awful so and it makes the south look bad. NO class just a bunch of big mouth women with no class and some cash.
This show proves money does not give you real class. It was awful. I cant believe as neat as Atlanta is and they could only come up with fake hair , fake class and someone running around lying about being sick. However to all the women if you husband lives in the south and left you for some cheap thing .........you have nothing to worry about if she lives in Atlanta lolololol. Gag I would love to see what type of man would find her atttractive and that singing omg...........Please keep the show off the air or find new women.........

The Real Housewives series has surely lost it's way. Even the Orange County segment has taken to back-biting, mean spiritness and angry snipes behind each other's back. After watching Tamra snipe Gretchen in the limo, I gave up. The Atlanta segment sunk to a real low and this woman lying about cancer? She should spend some time in a cancer ward and possibly will understand what it really means to be sick and lose your hair.
Jen Aniston tries to move on but the media won't let her. I'm pretty sure in a normal conversation Brad and Angie doesn't cross her lips.
