Innervibe: Sounds like something your yoga instructor is into. It's actually "the world's number one vibrating condom ring," according to the packaging.

A condom ring works on a similar principle as a cock ring -- it's a band that goes around the base of your dude's erection. It keeps the blood in his member so he stays harder.

The difference? A vibrating condom ring has a tiny vibrator attached to it. You put it on over the condom (or without it, if you're in a monogamous relationship), so you can grind against it during intercourse.

Though it may sound strange, these little gadgets have gone super-mainstream in the last year or so, with condom brands like Trojan, Durex and Lifestyles all launching versions that you can buy in drugstores.

I've used a cock ring before, and my man, I'll call him M, said he liked it, but I couldn't feel a difference. I've also used a vibrator, so the combination of the two sounded quite appealing.

The Innervibe is made of a jelly-like stretchy material and has an inch-long vibrator attached to one side. M slipped on the ring after we'd already been having sex for a few minutes. A few thrusts later we turned it on (via a button on the side), which produced a fast, intense vibraton, almost like a bee.

How it Felt

In the missionary position, I felt the vibe when M pressed all the way into me. It was like the pattern pulsation some toys have: intense whirring followed by a few-second respite and then vibration again. It was kind of like using a vibrator and a dildo at the same time.

Being on top was even better -- I had more control where the vibe was touching me. I'm used to having complete control over where a vibrator touches me, but I didn't with the Innervibe, which was kind of weird. But not bad.

M liked the ring too. He said he could feel the vibration all the way up his penis. He said he's usually more aware of his cock near my opening, but with the ring, he was aware of the entire shaft up to the head.

Other Pluses

In a previous column I wrote about using sex toys with your partner. One benefit that I didn't mention is that it makes you communicate during sex more than usual. I kept asking M how he was feeling, if it felt good, if he could feel it, what it felt like.

A vibrating cock ring is one of the easiest toys to use with your man. Once it's on, you don't have to do much -- it's just there, pulsating away, so there's no awkwardness about when or how to use it. Plus it feels good for both partners.

Bottom Line
Even though the vibe provided extra-special stimulation, I didn't orgasm. I think I was too focused on using the vibe (and I wasn't using the orgasm loop), but it still felt incredible -- and different. I'd definitely recommend the vibe, and at $5 a pop, you can't go wrong. So go ahead and add a little zing to your sex with the Innervibe.
