I'm currently in my last semester of college. I'm also raising a child, writing, helping the businesses my husband and I own -- and I have recently discovered that my time-management skills need a major overhaul. Unfortunately, I am honestly not sure if I possess these skills at all, so giving them an overhaul might be a bit difficult. In my quest for renewed time-management skills, I looked up some techniques that would allegedly help me, only to find that most of them just made me laugh. In fact, I laughed for a while, which wasted even more time.

To-Don't Lists
One article told me that I needed to make prioritized to-do lists, claiming that I would be more organized and reliable. Um, whatever. Have you ever seen a writer attempt to make a to-do list? I suppose the folks that came up with that article haven't, because the process can be quite lengthy and time consuming.
I cannot limit list-writing to a few words. Not to mention the fact that if I attempted to prioritize the things that I needed to do, I would end up sitting there for even longer periods of time. I'm calling the to-do list's bluff.
Time-Tracking
The next article suggested that I keep an activity log. I hadn't been asked or told to keep an activity log since I was involved in high school sports. It's difficult to write down all of the things you are doing when you are busy running around like a chicken with your head cut off.
If I actually had to analyze what I did with all of my time between studying and babying, I think I might go into hibernation for the remainder of the fall and winter. Wouldn't you?
(I am totally onto something with the idea of hibernation!)
Just Do It?!
Then, the unthinkable happened: An article told me that I should stop procrastinating. Stop procrastinating? Are you kidding? I can't stop putting things off until the last minute. For many of us, the last minute is all we have. So I decided to procrastinate and put off reading the rest of the article.
These days it seems that we are all busy. We're all running around in circles, with some of us more organized and time-efficient than others. I, however, do not fall into that particular category.
What about you? Do you have any useful time-management skills for me? Are you just ready to throw in the towel and take up hibernation? Let me know!
