Munching on a single Pringle or a bite-sized Hostess cupcake may be gratifying for some, but for others, it triggers a chow-down frenzy that ends in a pile of fun-size candy wrappers. In a recent study published in Science, researchers at the Oregon Research Institute invited young women to go to town on a milkshake. They found that the dopamine-fueled pleasure centers in the brains of overweight participants slurping the shakes were far less active than in lean ones -- meaning the heavier women had to consume more to feel satisfied.
Scientists believe that this chemical quirk makes women with fewer dopamine receptors more likely to be seriously overweight or obese. Thanks again, genetics.
What the study doesn't explain is how those annoying chicks with "fast metabolisms" can eat their body weight in chicken nuggets every day and still stay thin, dopamine surge or no. Regardless, we're definitely in the mood for a strawberry and dopamine milkshake.

Moderation, moderation, moderation. Just watch what you eat. Having been a former fat @#$, I know that eating just about anything in moderation is okay. It comes down to knowing when to stop. It is much easier to eat just a small portion of something than to try and lose the weight from overindulging. I know what it's like to try and lose weight. I lost 47 pounds in 6 weeks using the Rapidthin diet at www.rapidthin.com. Good luck to all. Use what works for you.
