If you're looking for ammo in your quest to get your parents to pay your cell phone bill, listen up! Researchers have found that technology brings families together. The Pew Internet & American Life Project surveyed 2,252 adults and found that about half of people say cell phones and the Internet have improved the quality of their communication with family members. According to the report, 42 percent of parents contact their kids every day via cell phone, and 28 percent of parents text their children. (Ignore what you've heard about men being early adopters: Moms are more than twice as likely to SMS than dads.) Over 30 percent of married couples text one another.
Sixty-four percent of people use their cell phones to coordinate their schedules, while 70 percent of couples use it to just say hello. And over half of families go online together several times a week -- because you know Mom's always dying to show you those cute kitten forwards.
Tell Us: Has technology kept you and your family in touch? How often do you text or e-mail your relatives? What do your parents text you about?
