A relationship is never officially over until you change your status on Facebook. Unfortunately, for a couple in England, one such profile update ended in murder.Wayne Forrester, 35, was sentenced to jail for life last week for killing his wife, Emma, after she changed the relationship status on her Facebook profile to "single." Forrester, who was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, drove 15 miles to their former New Addington home and stabbed her while she lay in bed.
The couple had financial and personal issues for a while, and Forrester had moved out to live with his sister four days before the murder. London's Daily Mail reported that he constantly called Emma after moving out. A day before the murder, he had called his parents complaining about the profile change and said it made him "look like a fool."
This truly awful story is a strange case of a public, virtual status change signifying more finality than an actual, private one.

I don't necessarily think that people are asking for trouble just by having a facebook or myspace or any other type of online profile... they just need to be careful about it. Don't put too much personal information, keep the profile locked so only your pre-approved friends can view it, don't put any sort of incriminating photos up. I love facebook purely because I can keep in contact with a lot of my friends from high school/college that I would otherwise never speak with. It makes contact with friends all over the country and world so much simpler. So they aren't inherently evil- only the ignorant people who put up personal stuff about themselves are asking for trouble.

This wasn't caused by facebook, myspace, or the internet. It was caused by cocaine and alcohol. How about looking past headline sensationalism for once and paying attention to the actual facts.

Yes the man was using cocaine and drinking alcohol yet he is the one who commited murder. I am so tired of peoples excuses for why they take the life of someone they can no longer control. There is no excuse for what he has done. Many women and men are murdered by their partners and ex partners be there drugs, alcohol, or neither involved. It is all about control, when feel they no longer have it over their partner, they attack. All too often when they feel they have lost this person for good they kill. The reasoning being if they can't have them no one else will.

You need to watch what you put on Facebook and the others every one can see that stuff. Facebook is not to blame. The a$$ who went and killed her is the one responsible (the cocaine and alcohol did add to it). Quit passing the blame when he is the idiot who killed his wife.

Murder your wife? Yes......... murder is illegal and I'd never commit it..... but I HAVE been married, and it doesn't take long to think of thousands of reasons why a man would do it.

I think it's a great idea!
The more kids the poor women pop out, the more money every month they receive in welfare, aka MY TAX DOLLARS, so of course they keep breeding.
Let them get fixed and save all of us HARD WORKING TAX PAYERS a LOT of money!

Dan,
I guess if you and your redneck friends weren't so dedicated to "spreading your seed" all over the place, you wouldn't have to worry about your tax dollars being used to support children. Tell me, exactly, how these "breeders" pop out all these welfare kids without sperm, please?!

i agree i had much rather pay to have an intire trailer park in south alabama to b spayed once than to rais there children with my taxes dollars and later feed said children who have grown up to spend the rest of there useless lives in jail once again feeding on my tax dollars.

I don't think that Facebook and Myspace are at fault here. I think it was the coked out drunk who mudered his wife. I am guessing one of those "personal issues" they had was that he had a substance abuse problem. If you are going to put your personal info out there you just have to responsible about it. Just like this man is responsible for his own actions, it's called personal accountability.

I just cancelled by Facebook account because my ex found out about mine. It seemed like an innocent way to stay in touch with friends from HS, nieces and nephews....etc. I did not use my name but, my ex was able to find my profile (by looking at my kids and my family, they used first and last names) and was harassing me. Scary!
For my safety I decided to cancel my account.

I dont think that putting personal pictures up is the cause of murder. I put mine up so my friends can see us as children and as we grow up. of course i have control over who see my pictures you can control what goes out there. ann

Guys that try to pick me up take their time...but say they are seperated...it is a sick world out there...be careful ! A few talk kindly about their wife.....there are a few nice guys at home all day and are only lonely to talk to an intelligent woman...he may work at home...she may work outside the home...God Bless...and never blame the internet..it's like blaming the CB for grandma's divorce....it's always the man or woman...blame is the name of the game !

LOL! Dan - what the he!! does your statement have to do with the story?
Anyway - Facebook had nothing to do with this murder....like someone said - its a catchy headline. He went nuts, he was probably a loser to begin with, maybe if he stopped spendin his money on blow and alcohol they wouldnt have any financial problems...right?
