This past weekend a colleague and I moved a client from one beautiful home to another. "Posh" doesn't even begin to describe her new place: It has a hair salon, a full bathroom in the attic and mini-mansion-sized servants' quarters

But you don't have to have her kind of money to steal some of the same schmancy decorating trips that she uses. Here are a few ideas to help you feel rich in your home even if your kitchen stocks ramen noodles, not truffles.

Be Fruity
Just say "no" to dead flowers, fake flowers and expensive flowers that die in three days. Instead, grab a big bowl or dish and throw a ton of lemons in it. For mere dollars, this simple and natural solution brings a long-lasting, rich simplicity to your décor. When featured on a console table near the front door, this beautiful "arrangement" adds color, life and zest (literally) to your home. You can double your pleasure by adding a big mirror behind the display. And it smells great.

White Linen
No, not the old lady perfume, the real goods. All-white towels, in particular, add a rich, clean look to your bathroom. Roll them up spa-style surrounded by a few tea lights and voila, you've got your own mini-getaway for about $30. Hit the local Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Filene's or any other resale super store for name-brand towels at a major discount. After you bring the new towels home, donate all your old grubby ones to a local animal shelter.

Make Your Bed
Simply making your bed every morning is a treat that will make your home feel more refined and polished. You don't need $600 sheets from Bergdorf's to create a haven for yourself. As long as the sheets are coordinated or incorporate a soothing color palette, you're good to go. Coming home at the end of a long day to a beautifully made bed will make you feel like a pampered princess. And you deserve it!
